Contemporary or Wilderness Lodge?
Well we have had to make out trip a week later and now the Contemporary Resort is booked. But we can get a rate of $130 for the Wilderness Lodge for the new week that we want. Or we can wait until December 7th and the Contemporary has room for the rate of $110. I have never been to Disney so what is your advice.

What a problem to have...We have stayed at both and it's a fine line to which one is better. The Contemporary has a slight edge only because you have young children. It is on the monorail and it is quite easy to get around. They also have a great breakfast at Chef Mickey's. (CALL EARLY FOR PS'S). The WL is also very nice, newer and a short boat or bus ride to the park. For my first visit I would probably choose the contemporary. Just because I like the tram going through the building.
good luck. Second place is still excellent. tom

We personally prefer the WL...just 'cause we like the decor & atmosphere much better. You feel much more secluded, but with MK just a boat drive away. I know...we're not making this easy for you, are we? :dazed :) :) :)

Definitely the Wilderness Lodge!!! Much better decor and atmosphere! Of course I may be biased because we were married there!
However, we honeymooned at GF and it like the Contemporary is on the monorail...so I understand your thinking. After staying at both, I still liked the WL better. The transportation was prompt and sometimes I thought we got to places faster than taking the monorail to the TTC or MK. Bus service to AK & MGM were definitely faster at WL than GF, so I'm not sure about the Contemporary in that respect. Plus the WL has great kids activities and a wonderful pool with waterslide. Either way I'm sure you'll have fun. :)

I vote for WL. We just stayed there in June.
The boat ride from WL to Mk is quick and so relaxing after a long day. There is also a boat that goes directly to the Contemporary. We used this several times to quickly jump on the monorail to epcot and poly. |

Have stayed at both. Will only stay at WL from now on. LOL Loved it so much there. Very convenient. Everyone was so friendly. Every night when DH and I would sit out on the balcony while the kids went to sleep we could hear music in the air. Are your kids too young for the bunk beds? My boys LOVED them. Im sure you will have a magical time whichever you choose. Good luck and let us know! :)

We stayed at the Contemporary on our first trip. We really enjoyed it. I was 6 months pregnant and our son was 7 so we spent a great deal of time at the MK. If that is where you will spend most of your time I would say do the Contemporary. It isn't as themed as the WL but it is so convenient with tired children. I loved coming back on the monorail, getting on the elevator and being at my room in just a few steps.
We stayed at the WL too and while it is wonderful as well, it can be a long walk to your room in the evening, and that is after the bus or the boat. Whichever you choose you will have a wonderful time!

I have stayed in both several times. My only advice is this: I prefer the WL. Yes, the Contemporary has the monorail (which is wonderful). But I have two small children. We spend most of our time at the Magic Kingdom, and the boat back to the hotel is a nice wind-down. When we stay at the Contem. it seems like the excitment and noise stays. Going back to the WL is more relaxing to me. My kids relax much quicker and go to bed quicker. We all seem more refreshed to start the next day. The WL seems like more of an escape from all of the hussle and bussle.
I also think the WL is more romantic. If you do stay at the WL. Take the boat over to the Contem. and eat at Chef Mickey's. |

We haven't stayed at the WL, yet...but we chose it because of the theme. We really wanted a Disney experiance with a great theme. Certainly not that the Contemporary isn't an awesome resort, but we wanted something a little bit different from the usual resorts.

The Contemporary is the most visually arresting resort (on the outside as well as the inside) probably on all of Disney property. The proximity to the Magic Kingdom (you can either walk or Monorail) is second to none and if you get a reservation for dinner at the California Grill at either sunset or during the fireworks at the MK it is truly magical. However I think that there is not resort that has more atmosphere than the Wilderness Lodge. It is like the biggest log cabin you've ever seen. The "wilderness" like, rustic feel of the resort has made it our favorite. It is also very close to the MK ( and you get to take a boat cruise to it). :) :) :)

Take both trips!!
Sorry, I know that's not helpful, but what can I say? I understand your dilemma and I wouldn't want to choose either. :D

Wow. 110.00 a night? Is that for the gardne wing or the Tower?
I have stayed at the Contemporary twice. Each time my children were small and it was wonderful. Took the monorail back from the MK or just walked back with kinds in the stoller and had no problems. I loved the closeness of the hotel to the MK. I can't say enough good things about the hotel and when I can afford it again I will stay there. :) jeannej

Another vote here for the Wilderness Lodge. It is breathtaking. And you feel so relaxed while you are there (which can be hard to do while at WDW). While I have never stayed at Contemporary, I have been there several times and it always seems buzzing with activity...where it's just the opposite at the WL. Plus your kids will love it!! The pools are great...and take your kids over to the Iron Spike room right next door at the WL Villas and read them a story in the Inglenook....it's just so cozy....!!
If you are still leaning toward the Contemporary, Be sure to ask if you'll be in the tower or not....that may make the choice for you if you're not!
