Wilderness Cabins

As we're doing the single-digit dance now, I have just a couple more questions from this panel of experts. We will be staying in a cabin at Fort Wilderness and.......

1) I understand that bath towels are provided. What about bed linen?

2) Is it best to leave the van parked ar should we use it as our primary source of transportation?

3) What items should we pack for the "cabin" that won't be provided?

Thank you so much.

Will

You bet I will. I just got a great big mem-stick for my digicam so it'll now hold about 400 pics.

I will do my best to issue a full report on our 8-day, 7-night jaunt to the greatest place on earth.

Have a GREAT time!!!

You will truly enjoy the cabins, they are wonderful.

1.) All bath towels and bed linens are provided. If I remember correctly there were even dish towels in the kitchen.

2.) We parked our rental car right outside of the cabin. (There is a parking spot right outside your door). We used our car if we went anywhere other than the MK. For the MK we always caught the boat from the dock. We only used our car because we were with my MIL who is in her 70's and tires easily. I have had other family members who have stayed in the cabins say that the bus system was never a problem to use.

3.) Pretty much everything is included in the cabin, but food. If you do have a rental car, you may want to stop at a grocery store and get coffee, milk, breakfast food, snacks, etc. We did this and had breakfast in our cabin every morning. There is also a grill (I think we had to provide our own charcol) to do some cooking as well. Dish soap was in the kitchen. Toiletries were left for us daily.

Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have and I will try to answer them. We were just there in March, so the info should be correct.

Take care!

Pudge aka Amy

Was there a second TV and VCR? I read somewhere that they had taken out the second one.

Hi Everyone!
We have stayed at the WC! We loved it so much, we are going back this year. The services are the same as in any WDW Resort. Maid service everyday, bed linens, towels. When you clean up from a meal and run the dishwasher, they even put the dishes away while you are out!
Gettysburg Dad I hope you have as much fun as we did!!
:) Dawn

They have removed the second tv. The only tv is in the living room area.

Also there is daily maid service. Our maid even did the dishes I left in the sink!

Enjoy!!!!

Rent the personal golf carts! They are alot of fun, and get you around really quick. We did it last time and enjoed it. Don't forget to charge them, it's funny, when ever you stop somewhere, you see all this golf cart plugged in.

You can do it daily or for your entire stay!

Here is a list I found of what the cabin comes with. I have also read to make sure you pack matches and pot holders and BBQ tools. I got this info from www.wdwig.com.

I don't think there is a better savings opportunity for a family of 5 or 6 than the Cabins. Just the possibility of eating 1 or 2 meals at the cabin can really stretch a budget.

Also there is the parking situation. If anyone wants to visit off disney places the cabins really become a huge convenience too. I have also noticed alot of Fort Wilderness folks who use their cars to go to internal Disney properties because of the accessibility. After all, a 20 minute wait for a bus is not unheard of, right? If you can get a Diamond Parking Pass from AAA your dreams really will come true. You may never use Disney Transportation again.

The cabins also provide one very...interesting feature...

There is a door to the bedroom....

Yep there are essentially three rooms. Now this is one of the more important but hardly mentioned perks of a Fort Wilderness Cabin. If you have a nap taking child or a baby, this isolation from the rest of the party can be wonderful thing.

Got a snoring member of the group? Shut the door!

Need intimacy? Well...? Disney always gets me in the mood... Shut the door!

Oh my, I knew sex would end up in a Fort Wilderness posting eventually.:angel
