I'm going back???

I'm going on a road trip in two weeks with the kids, traveling to Georgia and Florida to visit various inlaws. Well, due to illnesses and my Dad unexpectedly tagging along, we have to cut some parts of our trip short and needed a hotel to base ourselves in in Central Florida. My son graciously (not) reminded me that he has yet to take the surfing lessons at Typhoon Lagoon... sooooo....

I think we are going back, for a week, mid-August. This would be the first time ever my Dad has been to Disney, ever. He's a WWII vet, so we've contacted SOG and they've availability at the Contemporary and Port Orleans. The lady there said if we squawk loud enough, they'd place him/us at Animal Kingdom Lodge. What a hoot, we just left there. I'm in a quandry over where they place us though.

I'm kind of stunned - this is happening so fast, but it's been a dream of mine to go to Disney World with my "Daddy" all my life. Can't believe I've had to wait almost 40 years to do it.

Ohh MickeyMac thats so great ..to be going back so soon!!! we want to go back the end of August ..but its been forbidden, our DGD's said we can not go with out them. but we havent even left for this trip and we want to go back again already.
I am so excited for you!!
I agree with jmouse the AKL or the Contemporay !!!

OMG!!! How awesome, MickeyMac....

I'm so jealous.....we talked my parents in to going back with us in March...but to Florida, not WDW. They will stay two days with us at Old Key West....and the other days in the Florida Keys. They won't be visiting the parks at all. {{{UGH! I don't have the willpower for that!! :laugh }}}

Another friend pretty much just talked me into AKL, if they offer it. I *hate* waiting for SOG. My dad, however, will love Animal Kingdom Lodge - the people there are so friendly and I'm pretty sure they'd put him in the pod I'm thinking of (not a lot of people like to stay there, since it's too busy, we were told) It would be fantastic for him, since he would have a hard time getting lost.

I so hope we can do this! If not, we'll just have to find out if he can stay someplace out of trouble at the Contemp. :D

How exciting another trip. Best of all you get to share all the disney magic with your Dad and he gets to share it with his grandchildren. It just perfect. I so happy for you have a great time planning and I hope you get AKL. I keep my pixies crossed for you.

That is sooooo wonderful! Is your dad retired from the military or just a veteran?? I was under the impression that SOG was only for active or retired military personnell.

Oh, and your trip to WDW...that's pretty great too! ;) I hope it all works out for you...LOVE AKL...but I would just be tickled to be going back so soon. YEAH! Another cool Disney blog!!! Congrats MickeyMac!

SOG is also for 100% disabled vets - he almost lost his legs in a foxhole in France and was in the Army hospital in NYC for two years with tuberculosis... ack, too much information!! :p

My GFIL just called and set up the date when we can meet with them, and it works perfectly with our dates. Now, if I can only get off eternal hold **** with SOG, we'll be on our way!

Oh, and I should probably finish my last blog before I start a new one...
