How bad after New Year's
Hello again y'all! :D
I just had a question...I'm trying to plan a surprise trip for my best friend's 20th birthday. (Since we're celebrating my birthday in WDW, I wanted to do something special for her, too.) Her bday is December 28th, and I really don't want to attempt going to WDW right around New Year's. Can anyone tell me what crowds/rates are like right after New Year's? Maybe in the first week of January?

Hello,
We went for New Years, before we had children, and what a blast. Of course, don't plan on going on many attractions on Dec. 31. We went to Epcot, each country had live music, beer, wine, food, the bigest party ever! The place was mombed, but fun, we made Dinner reservations for Mexico at 12:15 a.m., (EPCOT was open till 2 am) and while thousands and thousands of people exited, after we rang in the new year, we had a nice light dinner, some drinks, and when we were done, the park was very manigable, we even went on SE one more time. And to top off the New Years celebration, we went to Typhoon lagoon on New Years Day and relaxed (I even brought my hotel room pillow for the lounge chair and slept a bit more). See, we're from Ct, and to lay on the "beach" January 1st, a true joy I highly recommend a New Years visit, when my little one gets a bit older, we'll do it again :dazed Den

By the way, the 2nd and third week in January tend be the slowest of the entire year from what i recall. The park is very empty..but closes early and could be a bit chilly. But much more manigable for the attractions!

There are usually discounts for non-FL residents in January that will give you the All-Stars for $49-59.
After January 4th next year, the parks should be empty. It clears out the weekend after the 1st. Wonderful time to go. |

We were there this past New Year's Eve. We were at Epcot. We arrived at 11:00 and the MK parking lot was already full. We stood in line for 45 min. to buy tickets. BUT we still has a blast! We had reservations to eat at a buffet called The RocknRoll New Years Eve that coincided with a horrible storm so we were inside. On Jan. 1 we attended the Capital One bowl game (football). On the 2 we went to MGM, it was crowded but we had no trouble doing everything we wanted and the Christmas lights were still out and were the highlight of our trip (except for the football!)

Well, thanx so much for the responses, guys! I decided to change my plans and pursue something much more important.
That is about the time I will be heading down to Anaheim to apply at Disneyland. :nervous So....
