Resort Hopping

Who has done this?

Do we need to have a PS at the resort to be able to park there? (They gave us a hard time when we went to park by the Contemporary for our Chef Mickey PS last time.)

Are you allowed to go in other Resort pools?

What are other fun things to do in the various resorts?

Thanks! :)

We resort hop all of the time...but we just let security know we are looking for future visits. They always seem fine with this and give us a pass to park. We've used Poly, WL, AKL, and Y&BR parking. Its usually for a short amount of time. We rode the monorail to GF and Contemporary.

I agree with Anne, you shouldn't have any problems.

However, unless you are a DVC member you are not allowed to pool hop. I have heard reports that IDs are checked sometimes. We have never been checked but I would never chance it.

I have always used the "We have PS's at" whatever restaurant is in the resort to get into it. About pool-hopping,DO NOT do it at Stormalong Bay if you aren't staying at the Yacht & Beach Club resorts. They check resort ID's.

They have also been known to check resort ids at the Poly, Contemporary, Boardwalk, and Wilderness Lodge pools. Resort pools are for the exclusive use of their hotel guests, with the exception of DVC members who are permitted pool-hopping privileges within restrictions.

Most activities at WDW Resort Hotels may be enjoyed by all WDW resort guests. The reason you were given a hard time at the Contemporary Resort regarding parking is because so many people have tried to use their parking lot as parking for the theme parks. All Magic Kingdom and Epcot Resort Hotels have signs at their entrances advising that they cannot provide parking for the theme parks. If you are there for other reasons, they will give you a 3-hour parking pass.

If you are willing to valet park your car at the Epcot resorts, you can then take the launch to Epcot or MGM. I did that on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend when I valet-parked at The Beach Club and went to Epcot. I told the guard at the gate that I had a PS at Cape May Cafe and I was let in. Since I am a member of the Disney's Dining Experience,I got free valet parking. It was SO worth not having to walk through FW to get to WS,which was all that I was planning to go to. I didn't mind giving the valet guy a tip at all.

If you are not in a hurry to resort hop, and you are not staying on resort property, park at the Market palce and take the bus to a resort. Buses do not go from resort to resort though. You can also cluster your hops i.e. Go to the Boardwalk, and you can walk (or) take the ferry over to the Yacht & Beach. You can also go from the GF to the Contemporary or Polynesian via the monorail or to Wilderness lodge by boat.

If you are staying on resort, hop the bus back to the market place and grab the next bus to where ever.

We do it alll the time (if not in a hurry!!!) We look at which resort to stay at next.

Pool hopping is a BIG NO NO.. Do not do that

Going back in 12 glorious days!!!

We usually take busses when we resort hop. In fact, our car doesn't leave our hotel's parking lot unless we're going off property. It's a lot easier to take the busses than explaining to security that you just want to look around the resort.

We used to use the PS excuse all the time

but now they check names when you get to the gate. We also found that even if we did have ressies, they limit your time at the resorts for about 2 hours. If you use the valet at GF, you should be fine.

I have never pool hopped. Let us know how that works out.;)

We have never had a problem parking at the resorts. We always tell them we are eating. If they check the list for PS, we are honest and tell them we don't have them, but are willing to wait. If you are on site at another resort, the parking pass seems to be good enough. I have also used the gift shop as a reason to be there. WL and AKL have unique items only found there.

Thanks for the tip about

the gift shops, I never would have thought about that. It's true that they do have "exclusive" items, I'll keep that in mind. As far as not having ressies, I never would have thought to tell them the truth. I guess mom was right, honesty is the best policy! :laugh

You can always actually make a PS and not use it to just get into the resort.
