GF Vets
We are so excited to be able to make a trip to Disney! I have been once when I was 10, but I don't really remember anything much. None of my family have ever been. (Husband and 3 kids, all in their teens) We have really saved up for this trip and decided to go in style and stay at the Grand Floridian, I had done some Disney resort searching and it looked like it would really be nice. My Husband is the one that is really picky (If we keep him happy then we are happy ;)). One of the big request he made was to stay somewhere that you might could see the MK fire works from the room. I have already made reservations for a lagoon view room. But we did not choose to do concierge.
If any of yall have stayed at the GF, please let me know what building or floor would be best to try and request, and if it can comfortably sleep 5. I did ask the reservationist these questions but I would like to have opinions of guests. |

My husband and I stayed in a honeymoon concierge room at the the GF back in November of '01 and we had a fabulous view of the MK fireworks from our balcony - truly amazing!! We haven't booked that room since because it was just too much $$$.
I believe the only concierge rooms with a MK view are in the main building and are consequenly more expensive. You can, however, request a lagoon view in one of the other buildings (although I'm not sure which one). The only downside is that they can only "note" on your reservation that you'd like a MK view. There's no guarantee that you'll actually get it at check-in. I believe you can also fax in a room request a few days in advance. I don't have the details, but I'm sure one of these well-(Disney!)educated DC'ers will have the answer. Good luck!!

I can not remember the room number :( Can't figure it out on the key card either. MIght have have been 526?
However..do remember we stayed in Conch Key and we had a corner room...lagoon on the front balcony and marina on the side. We were on the top floor..believe it was the fifth. The balcony facing MK and the lagoon was a dormer style balcony with a solid front. The side one had the open balcony. The view of the room is below. When you book, book a lagoon. Then request the MK view. Our room was awesome, far beyond what we expected and the view was just fantastic. The boat dock landing was just to the right of our building. Magic Words..Conch Key... :) www.geocities.com/anlashokna/gf1.jpg www.geocities.com/anlashokna/gf3.jpg

GF question
It will really make the trip worth what we are putting into it, and the kids and all of us are so happy to stay in one of the Disney Resorts. I just hope we will be able to get a good MK view. I will call a few days before we go and see if they will except our request. (We do have lagoon reservations, but I'm not sure which building will have the best lagoon/MK view. THAT IS WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO TELL THEM WHEN I CALL). The excitement grows every week. We will be going in October, I hope the crowds are not to bad.
Thanks to anyone for advice!! ![]() |

I also need to find out which would be the most interesting restaurants to make reservations at in which teenagers would enjoy. I guess I should to to a different post area with this question.

As it said in another post, dont just call by phone but be sure to fax your room request about 4 days ahead of your arrival. Put it to the attention of the room assigner. Our requests were honored when we did this. Good luck and have a blast!
