Poll:Resort mugs

As I sit here drinking from my WL mug this question comes to mind: Do you buy a resort mug on one trip and take it back to the same resort and use it again on following trips?

I voted yes. At the time when we bought our mugs(just last year) they had not started the "length of stay" use of the mugs. We were told that we could use them on any return trips. So we bought them knowing we'd be there for a week for my son's bday. Since then i heard the rules changed, and even saw the signs in the rooms stating this new rule. We did bring them on a weekend trip, and never even used them. But during that week long trip we used them alot. The CM that checked us in even asked if we brought our old mugs, and then whispered, "Good, then use them!!";)

I have to say no to this poll since I've only used the resort mugs at the all star sports once about 2 years ago and the second i came home I lost it somehow, lol. I didnt know you could reuse them though, do you have to pay a fee agian to use them?

I brought our mugs/cups home from Dixie Landings with the intention of using them on our next trip.:whistle:

BUT, it's been almost 3 years, and they've since changed the name, and I'll be staying at CBR next time! LOL.....OH Well!:dazed :p

I bought a mug at the All-Stars when I stayed in 2000. I have used it ever since,even when I stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I have used it right in front of CMs and have never had anyone say anything to me about not being able to use it because I hadn't bought it during my current stay. In addition,I also have mugs from both the Wilderness Lodge and Caribbean Beach Resort because I have found them in the parks. I think it is a farce that Disney expects people to buy new mugs each time.

I don't bring them back to the parks but I use them at home and work all the time!

We have one from the AS's and one from WL. My wife now uses them on a daily basis. If we stay at WL or AS's again we will bring our old mugs.

I read about a year ago that Disney was going to use a bar code scanner at the fountains. The way I understand it is, when you buy your mug the bar code on the mug is activated. Then when you go to use the fountain, you scan your mug. You can then fill your mug. The code would only work at your resort and only for a period of time. So far this hasn't happened and I haven't read any updates saying this is in the works. This would be good to keep the theives away, but it would stop us from reusing our old mugs.

I'd like to use my old mugs, but I'm too chicken. I hate to be the object of attention, especially negative attention, and getting "caught" would really embarrass me.:nooo: Maybe I should try to find some courage somewhere and try to use them anyway...

I'm the same way too! :nervous LOL But when the Cast Member that was checking me in on our June trip told me to use them, I knew that I should be ok!!

Interesting to hear about the bar codes and all that jazz. That would be one way to stop everyone in their tracks!!

I loved the reusable mugs. We always used our mugs at POR.
I know the object for some is to get as much of our dollars as possible, but I do not see where being able to reuse a mug should be that much of an issue. It seems that the so-called perks that we could get are being eliminated.

We have the AKL mugs and have used them twice. We will take them on our next trip. Disney knows that people bring them back. I cannot imagine them going to the expense of barcoding the cups with a scanner at the fountain. They should realize that people are returning to the resorts and part of it would be reusing the cups. Reusing the cups can't be costing more than people are spending when they return.

I agree.....It would be really discouraging if Disney resorted to "locking" the fountains. This may have been a rumor or an abandoned idea by Disney. They probably realized that the cost to install a system would be more than the cost of "pop". (DisneyAnne, I couldn't resist.)
