Mary Waring, of Mousesavers fame, has just written a great article on her perception of the future of discounts at WDW, on both packages and room only. It think she hit the current situation right on the head. It is a great read for anyone thinking about going to WDW, and will help greatly in your planning.

Wow, very interesting! I for one, will not stay on WDW property if there are no AP (of FL Resident) codes are available. I'll either just make a day trip or stay off site if I have to.I just can't see paying the full rack rates that they charge. I can see where they are coming from regarding the use of pin #'s on the postcards!

What really gets me is I tried to get the $139 discount at the Swan or Dolphin, and of course they told me my dates , of course were not available. My response to them was , well I guess when you could fill a resort, and people are paying full price, why would they give AP holders a discount. The person at the Resort did agree with me. I even tried AAA , and a few other discounts, but they were not nearly as good as AP rates. My ( DH) and I are planning to come down to DW again in Nov., but I'm a little concerned about what kind of deals we will be offered.

Lately it's just a waiting game.. JOANN:)

I'm glad you posted this article Mickey. I was thinking the same exact thing since I made reservations made with Mouseketrips for this Dec. While I'm not supposed to rely on the codes as a definite yes to get discounted rates, I was just going from the prior years and expected this year to be the same. I will be honest because if these codes don't show up, I'm going to have to cancel my reservation and move off sight. I hope this isn't the case because I was looking forward to this trip and the money we would hopefully be saving since last February and now to read this, it puts a real damper on our trip. Time for a backup plan I guess.

While I really enjoy staying on property, if I cannot get a discount on the rack rooms rates then I will take advantage of the multitude od amentites Disney doesn't offer at a great hotel off proerty for a much chaeper price. One ca experience the DW magic at the parks.
