Shades of Green
Can anyone tell me about transportation from Shades of Green to the parks? I have read that it can take longer than driving yourself. Also any info at all on Shades of Green would be appreciated. I know they are remodeling now and are to open by March. My trip is for April.
Thanks! :heart :)

The shades of Green has two buses and you can walk to the Polynesian and Transportation & ticket center. I got this information from the 2003 Passporter. It sounds as though they upgraded a lot of stuff. You are in for a treat. The amenities alone are wonderful. It does say at the bottom of the one paragraph that a car is helpful at this resort, but they are helpful at all the resorts. It sounds as though you have access to many modes of transportation. Welcome to Disney Central by the way.

Shades of Green
Thanks Dana-
This will be our first time staying there. We have always stayed at Port Orleans Riverside which we love. I've heard pretty good things about SOG I'm just worried that it won't be the level of service as a Disney owned resort. I'm probably jst being ridiculous. :) :heart

The serivce at this resort is suppose to be top notch. It's is considered the equal to a deluxe resort. They have the same amenities as the deluxes and I have never read a bad review. Thier dining choices included the Garden Gallery, Evergreen sports bar, Mangino's (new specialty Italian restaurant), the Express cafe for quick service meals and room service (also new). Amenities are: two lighted tennis courts, two heated pools, wading pool, playground, exersise room, arcade, and laundry Facilities. They also have a lounge called the Ealgles. The guest rooms are the largest on property at 450 sq feet and can hold up to 5 people. The rooms include: two queen beds, an armoire with a TV, a sitting area with a day bed or sleeper sofa, and table and chairs. All rooms also have coffee makers, iron & board, hair dryer, in-room safe, and full balcony or patio.
Relax. You picked a winner. :)

Wow, this is actually a topic that I can help with.
The several times that we stayed a SOG, we loved it! We had our car but prefered the early morning walk of less then 10 minutes to T&TC. I can't wait to see the rehab. The rooms were always huge compared to a standard hotel room (can't compare to other WDW resorts because this was the only one we stayed at). The good thing was always no sales tax at the grocery and gift shops. The food was excellent for much more reasonable prices also. I will be looking forward to reading your trip report to see how it is now.

When we have stayed at the SOG a few times, we have used the resort transportation, I thought it was great. Maybe a little wait, but not bad at all (We always go in January too, so maybe that is why it was so great too).
I can't wait to see SOG when they are done, it was already wonderful, I can't imagine what it is going to be like. HAVE FUN! :) :) :) :) :) |

Thanks!
Thank you all....your replies are very helpful! I didn't realize that SOG was such a short walk from TTC. I have nothing but good things so we are very excited. Maybe we'll see you there Franco54! Our trip is April 22-May 1.
Can anyone rate the pool area for me? I have a very excited 4 year old who wants to do nothing except swim and ride on Buzz Lightyear's Spaceranger Spin!
