Coronado Springs vs. Port Orleans Riverside
Going to Disney March 2004 and we are torn between Coronado Springs and Port Orleans Riverside. Have stayed last 2 times at Carribbean Beach and want to try something new. Any opinions on either?? It will be my 1 of many visits to Disney but my husband's first since he was a child and I want it to be nice for him!! Thanks all!!!

We love Coronado Springs. It's so conveinent to 3 of the parks, MGM, EPCOT, & AK. Also, very close to Blizzard Beach. This resort has a lot of perks. I think you would enjoy it!!!! And, of course it's not that long of a ride to the MK.
If you have anymore questions I would be more than happy to help out. You could PM me if you want to. Stayed at the CSR many times. Just stayed there for 8 days in November, and going back in May. Although, I'm trying to talk DH into going back to the AKL. Another great resort!!!! Whatever you choose, will be just great!! :) JOANN ![]()

I have stayed at both and would give a slight edge to PO although both are beautiful resorts. The reasons would be that PO is less spread out and the food was a little better at PO in my opinion.

I too would vote for POR (formerly known as Dixie Landings). I have stayed there many times and I like the food court there better.
There is one clue to staying at POR. Ask for Aligator Bayou so you can be close to the food court and the main bus stop.

Port Orleans Riverside all the way. It's beautiful, the foods great and it's centrally located to everything.

Stayed at both numerous times. I really liked them both and will be staying at both again soon. I enjoyed the food court at CS. PO is really nice to take a walk in the evening and enjoy how everything is so hidden. Either or, you will enjoy it staying at CS or PO.

Haven't stayed ar Port Orleans but have stayed at Coronado Springs and love the resort. Of all the moderates I would say it has the best pool area. Enjoyed the theming, the walk to the central building and the resturaunts. The bus service was terrific.
My mother works at Port Orleans and I have been hestitate to stay there in case something were to go wrong. :D jeannej

My vote would go to Port Orleans Riverside. We have stayed at both, and both are beautiful. I agree with mmouse67l, POR is less spread out. When we stayed at CSR we didn't bother with a refillable mug, because it was soooo far to walk to get a refill. We fed $$ into a vending machine for 4 days to avoid the walk.

I agree that you can't go wrong with either choice. I have stayed at CSR and we really liked it. It is very spread out but the transportation was run very well. I also thought it was fairly quiet and peaceful. The pools were never very crowded. I have never stayed at PO but I have a friend who LOVES this resort. It's her favorite of the moderate range and her kids love the pool.

I have also stayed at both and I have to say that it really depends on what you like in a resort. CSR is a great resort if you want to lounge at the pool or go to the parks. POR is a great resort if you want to hang out a Downtown Disney, or if you like a resort that isn't as spread out. Both resorts are great and either would be a good choice;)

I would highly recommend Coronado Springs. The theming of the entire resort is great. The main pool area also known as the Dig site has a replica of a mayan pyramid with water going down the side of it. It also has a water slide and fountain. The food court I think is the best on property along with the value resorts. Its unique from the rest because when you walk in they give you a piece of paper and then you go to these different counters that have different types of food. And then you pay for everything at the end. There are also waitresses that will give you refills on drinks and sell you souvinir cups that are great if you'll be dining there a lot.
Port Orleans riverside is nice too but I think Coronado Springs is more exciting and a lot more fun.

We have stayed at PO twice an CSR once. We liked PO better.
Some of the reasons are not as spread out, the food court was slightly better and I liked the pool better at PO. We only went to the quiet pools, because it was such a long walk to the pool. I know this sounds lazy, but when we stayed at CSR it was very Hot( August) and we had an 18 month old in tow. The one time we went to the resort pool we were soaking wet from the heat! Some neat perks about PO are it has a marina and carriage rides. Also you can take a boat from PO to DTD.Also, it is more centrally located than CSR. As far as moderate resorts go IMO, PO is the best to stay at. Good Luck with your choice, you will have fun any any resort! Karen |

I loved CS! People keep talking about it being spread out but I really didn't notice any problem. We were in Ranchos 7A and were right by a bus stop only about 3 min. to the fantastic Dig Site (the pyramid pool is the best) and not far from El Centro either. I loved the hammocks and the biggest hot tub on Disney property. The Pepper Market was great and gave you so many choices. Mousekeeping was excellent too. No complaints at all. I do think next time I will stay in a Cabana to be closer to the hammocks!lol :D
