Laundry service

I read that there is self-service laundry machines in the Contemporary. I also read that there is laundry service through the hotel. Wondering if anybody has tried the laundry service and an idea of how much they charged. Don't really want to waste time doing laundry.

Thanks

all of the resorts have laundries and they have laundry service .. about 4 years ago I used the service for only 5 pair of DH's pants and the cost was nearly $200.00. What I have found is that if you are planning pool time ..thats a great time to go ahead and do laundry.. I am not sure if the machines at the contemp are near the pool but I know all the other resorts we have stayed it the laundry room was never very far from the pool area.

I agree with Tink definatley use the laundry they provide to the guests for a small fee and lay by the pool while you wait
we did that on our last trip worked out very well didnt fell like i was wasting time doing laundry since we were relaxing by the pool!

You guys do laundry? I never do and leave all the dirty clothes for when I get home. Maybe that's why I am stressed after a vacation??:dazed I should attempt to do a little at night since the parks close early.

one afternoon/night or evening of doing laundry at WDW beats bringing home 5 / 6 loads. It can take days to catch up if I bring it all home. DH and I argue about this almost every year. Oddly enough Dixie has this same disagreement with her DH too !! But I can use 4 washers and 2 or 3 dryers at WDW compared to trying to get all that done at home. Note about the laundry-mats at the resorts .. the ones at the deluxe have tvs for you to watch and always have change in the change machines .. the ones at the moderate and value .. no tv and it might be a good idea to get change at the game room before you go!!
oh and since we drive .. I buy those small bottles of washing liquid and boxes of dyer softner sheets and take with me instead of spending all that extra on what they have .. I think a tiny box of tide is like $3.00!!

$3.00!!!!!! Holy Cow! For that much money a person should jump out of the box and do the wash for you. I am going to have to try this "laundry on vacation" deal. I always dread coming home to MEGA WASH!

Yep, I go along with the 'do it yourself' crowd. Pool time is a great time to do it. Or on your non-park visit day. Or even when you come back early. Just remember to time yourself so that your clothes aren't clogging up the machines when someone else might need them.
I ended up doing some laundry on the cruise as well. After all, it was a week long trip. A few people were miffed that the machines were all taken, but moreso because some people would just leave their clothes and forget about anyone else needing the machines.

Dana - doing the laundry on the trip also helps with what to bring to wear. You can pretty much half your load by doing that on longer trips. ;)

Tink, I'm cringing at the $500 bill!!!
:nooo: That is just insane.

We do laundry too. Last December when we went I had to do it just about every other night, since it rained so much. Didn't want to come home with wet, moldy clothes:( . I kind of like doing laundry, since we always go in off season, I just do it late at night, it's kind of a nice unwind period for me-call me crazy, but I do enjoy it!!!:dazed

The thought of doing laundry on my DW vacation has never ever entered my head! My DH and I both do laundry and he does most of the ironing so it isn't a problem. I have plenty of time to get it done when I get home while I dream about being back at Disney!;)

Okay, Lauren, I'm calling you crazy!!:p I never do laundry on vacation either. I guess I feel like I can get it done at home and don't want to waste a precious moment of my vacation time.

I will bring the detergent and I will have every intention of doing this "laundry on vacation" thing, but I am a very lazy person when it comes to doing the wash. We shall see. Maybe my box of tide will come with a person to do the laundry for me...now that's a vacation.:laugh
