Port Orleans Riverside

We just booked our trip for June 2004. We are going to stay at Port Orleans Riverside. Here's my question. Should we request a room at the Magnolia Bend Mansions or the Alligator Bayou buildings?

If you have any advice, please let me know. Thanks!!!

I have just always like the Alligator Bayou section. Smaller building, nice landscape and closer to the main bus stop and restaurants (assuming you request the right location). I think that Magnolia Bend felt like an apartment complex, but I know many others like it quite a bit.

my vote went to Alligator Bayou, we stayed there and it did seem like Mickey said "closer" to bus stop and restaurants/food court. I loved the area.

I stayed so long ago that the Aliigator Bayou part wasn't even open yet, so I have to be biased to the Magnolia Bend.

We've stayed in both sections and like the decor and scenery of the Magnolia Bend section better. If you are staying in Alligator Bayou ask for buildings 14 or 15. They are next to the main building. We were once in building 28 and it was a major hike to any bus. We like to stay across the river but within a short walking distance in the Magnolia Bend section Building 92.
I am going by memory but I think the Alligator Bayou section is next to the main building and bus stop so unless you are in the buildings right next to it (14 or 15) you have a little walk. The Magnolia Bend section is behind the main building so there is more area within a short walking distance.
On a few days we just parked at the main building and hit the buses.
As you can tell we have stayed at POR a few times so if you have any other questions let me know.

Awesome !!
We are going in May and also staying at POR.
We picked the Alligator Bayou section after looking at the map. Pick the right building(14 or 15) and you should be close to everything.

In October I said in the Magnolia Mansions while they were beautiful I missed the feel of the Alligator bayou section. I guess its my love for the louisiana bayou that I missed

I too say Alligator Bayou. We have gone many times and definitely 14 if you want to be close to the main building and bus stop.

Thanks for everyones advice. It sounds like the bayou is where we should stay. I will request a room close the the bus stop.

May wife is planning this entire trip. From the resort to the restaurants to the park days. She's planning it all. I just need to sit back and count the days!!! oh yeah, and save the money!!!

How awesome! I am jealous... it looks like we won't get to go until the fall or December of 2004!! So far away!!!

I don't have any advise, because I have not stayed on property yet!!

Isn't that a busy time to go??

Yeah, it is always crowded that time of the year, but since we always go during that month, we are used to it. We have added one more day than usual and we are getting ultimate park hoppers. That way we can take our time and enjoy the parks from the minute we get there to the minute we leave. Usually we get a 4 day ticket and have to rush through the parks.

Hmmm... here we go... I don't have a great knowledge of the tickets... What do the Ultimate tickets offer that the 4 day don't offer... How long are Ultimate tickets for... I am only asking because I am going to start trying to budget our next trip and I don't have a discount available to me this time that I had for our last trip. We still have one day left on our 4 day... so I have to figure out what will be best for us to purchase...

Ron,

The ultimate park hopper is good only for the days you are at WDW. Usually they are purchased through a room/ticket package, but they can be bought seperately. The biggest difference is that the ultimate ph is good for certain dates only. A regular four day ph(or whatever number you choose) is good forever. eg. use 2 days this year and use 2 days next year.

Also, the ultimate park hopper allows you to access all 4 parks, the 2 water parks, disney quest, and pleasure island in DTD.

The advantage I see with the ultimate ph is you can enjoy the parks for the entire trip. eg. We arrive at WDW at 4 in the afternoon. We can go straight to MK. With a 4 day hopper, you waste a whole day for only a few hours at the park.

I hope this all makes sense. If not pm me and I will explain further.

p.s. Happy New Year. I forget to reply to your PM.

How cool... I did not realize that they offered that type of ticket... only one last question... do you have to stay on Disney Property to purchase a ticket like that??

I like that plan, but will have to take advantage of it the next trip we take because we have 1 day left on our 4 day hopper.
