offand on property- your thoughts?
hi all!!! i have not been here for a while but i am getting ready to try to plan a trip though my husband feels its so costly , we will not plan to go until around oct,nov or dec.i thought we would spend 4 days off property and 4 on property to help with the cost of a 8 day trip. with a 2,5,and 8 year old it should be pretty funand crazy at times. i was wondering if you have to pick a off site place were would you go ? and why? we are looking to have a pool , place to eat , shuttle to places, the basics needed with 3 kids. i am hoping to get a booking at the contemporary mk view. when i attempt to book the CR what floor should i ask for to avoid all the noise i have heard about? i am hoping during our off property stay to hit sea world and universal as well. thanks for any tips ! i have looked and looked and i gotta tell you there is so much stuff out there its hard to figure what the best place to stay is for what your paying. i really wonder when the room rate is 50.00 on special is it because its really a "50.00 quality room " or is it really a special to grab! thanks all

During the months you are looking at, why not spend your first few nights at an All-Star or the new Pop-Century. Quality is assured along with great Disney theming and great transportation. And I bet you could find a similar rate. Just a thought!

I was thinking the same thing as the last two posters as I read your post. If money is an issue why not do 8 days at a value or a moderate resort. I think it would cost about he smae as off-site nad CR tower room. I know there are lots of DC members who have stayted at the All- Stars and love them. Pop Century is not an All-Star but priced the same and very new. I have stayed at CBR and loved it, I thought it was a great value for the price. You can get a room for a family of 5 at POR.
I like to stay on site when we go to WDW just for the convenience so I am a little bias. I like the fact I can park my can for the week and not drive if I don't want to.

I agree!
Why not spend the first half of your stay at a Disney Value Resort and the second half somewhwere mod or deluxe? Great minds think alike!;)

We always squeeze 5 of us in a 4 person room.
You can request a crib, or bring a sleeping bag and let the kiddies take turns in it each night(just dont' tell Disney). The rooms say they can accomodate 4 adults and one child under 3. You can do it.;) No you wont need a car and Disney will transfer your luggage for you from one of their hotels to the other. That can be arranged through bell services.

thats great news!
i heard it is way to crowded for 5 but really when are you there but to sleep now that i think about it . they move all our stuff which sounds even better then packing it all and trucking it across town with 3 kids  . sold we are doing the value resort, i just really wanted my kids to have a view of the MK from our room the last few days we are there, ok i wanted the view as well:whistle: ! i figured if i cut back on the room somewhat we can do all the other things we want to do and go all out. so can any one tell me when i may want to start looking for the deals for late oct ? i am thinking to try and book it all my self i always use a travel agent but everyone seems to save more or so it sounds doing it themselves. thanks again:)

Good for you!
You might want to book now, just to secure your rooms. For example, 4 nights at a value and 3 at a deluxe...Tell the reservationist that you'll be switching hotels during your stay. Your deposit will equal one night's lodging at regular price, but when the discount codes come out, you can call back and have them applied, so you will save money, just not right away/on your deposit. http://allearsnet.com/acc/resort.htm Also, as far as Value resorts go, I'd recommend Pop Century it has its own buses or All Star Sports, it shares buses with Music and Movies, but Sports is the first stop for pick-ups and drop-offs.

Ooops! Sorry, I misunderstood. Thought you were looking at 1 room in the Value resorts. If you really need 2 rooms, then yes, you are better off at POR.:nervous

The rule is firm as far as Disney goes but like any rule it can be broken if you are willing to break it. I have stayed with 4 adults at CBR and we were just fine. We are so busy when we are at WDW that room size is really not that important.
You can sleep 5 people at POR and 4 people and a child under 3 (or is it 3 and under??) at all the value resorts and other moderates. Now you just need to decide what is right for your family.
