Caribbean Beach Resort

Hello to all. I have started to get addicted to this message board thing. lol.......

Anyway, my family and I are staying at the Caribbean Resort in late March. I have read through most of the reviews regarding it and I believe that I will be totally impressed and love it. Thanks to this site, I got a great rate on the room ($114/night).

At first we were going to look into staying at one of the All Star Resorts, but they didn't wow me from their pictures. So we decided to upgrade. I want my wife and my daughter to be wowwed when they see the resort. I didn't want an average, everyday type of pool and ammenities, so I choose the Caribbean. The deluxe hotels were just too expensive for me, so I think I made the right decision.

Sorry about my rant, just wanted to convey my excitement on the board.

My next adventure will be the tickets into the parks. I am contemplating the hopper passes. We are staying 5 nights, 6 days. We want to have a day or two to use the hotel pool, etc. So I figure that we can get the 4 day hopper passes. But part of me is is also leaning on going and just getting the 3 day park pass at the gate. They are only 155 for 3 days. Sure, we can't bounce from park to park, but why would we. We are going to have a 2 almost 3 year old with us. I want to get at a park and stay there....maybe come back in the afternoon for a nap, them maybe go back to the same park.......does that sound like a good idea?

Thanks to everyone.

:)

Welcome To DC michiganboy
the CBR was the first Disney resort we stay in and it Wowed us all :) Its a beautiful resort!!

We have always bought length of stay passes so I really dont know whats best when it comes to other types of park passes, and I could be wrong but I think there is a 3 day parkhopper pass.
I am sure you know already that your 2 year old wont need a pass at all :)

You will like CBR. We have stayed there 3 times and loved it more each time we went. We liked Jamaica the best due to the location to the main building (including the food court).

If you haven't looked at a map of the resort you should, then at check in you can see if there is a room in the section you want. You can even request a certain section before you go, it can be noted on your reservation. Some people even fax in a room request before leaving home, three to four days out in the best time to send a fax.

This is just me but we like the ability to park hop. I like the freedom that comes from a park hopper or a length of stay pass. If one park is really crowded you can always go check out another park. After a break at your resort it is just as easy to go to a different park as it is to go to the park you started the day in. Don't forget--any unused days on a hopper are good forever. If you get a 4 day hopper and only use 3 days the left over day will be good until your next trip. And there will be another, trust me!!;)

Thanks for the prompt replies. I will look at the map to see where we would like to stay. I will definitely give them a fax requesting where I would like to stay.

Now after reading your posts, I am even more excited to go......

thank again

Welcome to Disney Central:) It's so nice to read of your excitement. I have to agree with DisneyTeacher about the park hopper passes. The ability to park hop is a real plus for all the reasons she said. You will be surprised how much you will use it. Trust us on this. And of course, if you don't use the 4 days (but I have a feeling you will), there's always the incentive to plan the next trip. :) Whatever you choose to do, feel free to bombard this site with questions. There's always someone around with the right answer.

yes

I think I am leaning towards the hopper pass. You guys talked me into it......

I already called Omar at mapleleaftickets. He has the best price by far.....very, very cheap.

I see your points about being able to go to another park if we are at one and leave. Or if my daughter really isn't into one park, we can hope on over to another.

thanks

The CBR is a great place to stay!!!! We stayed 10/99 on our 2nd honeymoon and loved it. We stayed in Trinidad S., far from Olde Port Royale, but quiet for the two of us. We weren't there much, hopping through all the parks and at Pleasure Island almost every night. The pool looked like fun for the kids, didn't go in the pool that time. They have a Raygae Band everynight at the outside bar, really cool. The hammocks on the beaches were a great touch, especially on our last day. We just layed around, almost in tears that we were leaving so soon.

This year we are going back in May, this time taking our 8 yo son for his first trip. We are, again, staying at the CBR. Looked at the other Moderate Resorts and felt this would be more fun for him.

The food court at OPR was great, something for everyone. You could eat inside or out, plenty of room for everyone.

The bus rides to the parks weren't that bad. Not much of a wait, but some will say a specific theme park but stop off first at one of the water parks first. Kinda out of the way, but it didn't matter....we were at WDW.

Enjoy your trip.

As for the passes, we got the Ultimate Park Hopper and were able to go anywhere, anytime as many times as we wanted. They included Pleasure Island, DisneyQuest, Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, along with the 4 theme parks. Little more higher in price, but wouldn't do it any other way.

I wrote the first review of CBR from the link you can find under ReviewCentral on the main page of this website:

http://www.disneycentral.com/cgi-bin...amic-links=yes

As the review indicates, my village of preference goes:

Martinique
Aruba
Barbados
Jamaica
Trinidad North
Trinidad South

Resort Map: http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/cbmap.html

Studying a map of the resort carefully is worthwhile, but I didn't like how Jamaica is crowded into it's location on the property or the view and shoreline; I'd recommend Aruba if you're staying on the western shore of Bayfoot Bay. Don't wait until the last second to catch Disney transportation if you're going anywhere; with how crowded the resort is and how many stops the bus makes, it fills up quickly and takes awhile before you're underway. The food court is chaotic and expensive (imagine that!); if you're staying for any length of time, renting a mini-fridge for snacks or breakfast foods is a decent idea.
