Val's 2 cents worth.....

First of all WELCOME to DC! I'm new too!

On the stroller issue, if you are like me and HATE to lug around stuff, it will be worth the $$ to rent a double stroller, not to mention easier to keep up w/ the kids. If you are already hauling car seats, strollers could make things even worse! Of course that is just my opinion.

Also, my passporter is an ESSENTIAL for DW planning (you can check them out at www.passporter.com . It will have any info that you need and if it isn't in here, you can find out on DC!

Have fun planning!! Sometimes that is the best part!:)

Welcome to DC. Just thought I'd add my two cents. With two little girls, please plan to go to MGM. They will love the Beauty and the Beast Show, the Voyage of the Little Mermaid, Playhouse Disney, Muppet Show and the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground. I know is sounds like it's geared to older kids and adults, but it really is a great park for everyone. Have lots of fun planning!

HI! In the summer, they used the TAHITI building for Concierge...which is one of the newly renovated buildings, if I am not mistaken! It was aboslutely GORGEOUS. We were on the 3rd floor with a Lagoon View...and got the best view of the castle they had! I HIGHLY recommend TAHITI with a LAGOON VIEW. And when you make your reservation, make sure to request TAHITI LONGHOUSE, LAGOON VIEW, MAGIC KINGDOM VIEW...it worked perfectly for us!

On the map, Tahiti looked like it was so far from the Great Ceremonial House, when in fact, it was only a short BEAUTIFUL walk away! So we had the best of both worlds...EXTREMELY CLOSE to TTC and not too far from Great Ceremonial House and both pools. We were also right next to the beach and right near the bus stops. I could NOT have asked for a better location. It was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!

When booking your room, make sure you use a discount code. go to MOUSESAVERS for the most up to date info on any and all discount codes available. There are Annual Pass codes, Resident Codes and just general codes available to the public...just do your research!

$15 a day seems like a lot to spend for the strollers to rent. Like someone said before, you may be able to have Tiffany Towncar stop at a store for you (maybe Super Walmart?) so you can buy a cheap, double umbrella stroller...and this way, you can take it home!

As far as the car seats go, you REALLY don't need one for your 2 year old on the plane. And some planes are so small that the car seats don't fit right anyway! We had this problem on the way, and he just sat in the seat by himself...it worked out great. We bring our carseat with us, since we will have a rental. When we go in 27 days (yippee!!! ) we will bring ours and check it in. I don't want to spend money to rent it when we can just take it! So if you aren't getting a rental car, I wouldn't bring them...you could just have Tiffany have it in the car when it picks you up.

If you have any more questions about the Poly, let me know...I will try to answer the best I can while it is fresh in my mind since I just went a month ago! It is my FAVORITE resort at WDW!!!!!! ENJOY YOUR PLANNING!!!!! :)

I thought it was so much easier to bring my own stroller. It was nice not to have to wake my DS up or tell him he had to get out of the stroller when we were trying to leave a park. More than once my DS fell asleep on the way to or from a park and by having our own stroller with us at all times he was able to keep sleeping.

We bought a $15 umbrella stroller that I was prepared to leave at the resort or hand off to another family if taking it home was a problem due to space. You will not have to get your girls out of the stroller to get on the monorail so if they are sleeping you can just let them keep on sleeping while you travel back to your resort by monorail. You will have to fold the stroller up before getting on a bus but you can still use it for the walk to the bus stop and the girls can stay in it until the bus comes.

From my experience having our own was very nice. We had use of it from the minute we left our room to the minute we returned to our room.

Welcome, Mitch! Glad to have you here!!

I agree on the stoller issue, if you don't want to bring your own, have Tiffany TownCar stop at Super Walmart and buy one for each girl (umbrellas are like $15 bucks each) so you have $30 bucks vs. $60+ for renting....and if you don't want to bring them back home, just leave them in your room for the next family.

Tiffany "gives" you a free 15 minute stop on the way to your resort.

Such great info - thanks for these very useful suggestions! I will have to print these pages out and add them to our Passporter when we get it ...

:D

Now here is something odd that I want to share: right now there do not seem to be any "package" deals that extend beyond April 17th, yet when I priced my vacation package for the first week of May, it ended up being slightly less expensive than if I change the dates to something prior to April 17th. I did this on Expedia, just to see how much the savings are for their advertised "35% off" package special. I suppose it could be the airfare component, but given how much time we have it doesn't seem likely that it would more than offset the hotel discount. Anyway, I don't think I'll be using Expedia other than as a reference for pricing; the folks at Mousketrips have been very informative and I will most likely book everything with them.

Thanks again for your help!

My friend is going in 2 weeks, and she booked her stay a while ago, using Expedia...and she too got BETTER rates than through Disney directly...I thought this was strange, too.

When I booked my trip, Expedia wasn't that much cheaper than the Winter Package WDW was offering. Expedia wanted everything in full so I opted to go with WDW where I could pay in payments.

On our last trip, my two were 5 and 7 and we used to Disney double strollers every day. The heat was exhausting, even when we only stayed for the first part of the day, and like Val said, it was handy for all the stuff we were carrying as well.

For kids that age, I wouldn't recommend the store bought ones as they're not geared for kids of that size and weight, but the Disney ones are nice and sturdy. Depends on the age of your kids. (Sometimes I wish they had them in REALLY large sizes so someone could push me around for a bit!) :D

We're headed back in three weeks (19 days!) and I have money set aside for stroller rental. I'm not sure if we'll need it this time, as the weather is Florida seems to be hovering at a pleasant 62 degrees or so, but I'd rather have money left over that we didn't use than money spent that we didn't expect.

Have fun!
