wilderness lodge or carribean resort?

We are planning a trip in April. I have booked both the Carribean and the Wildernes Lodge. I can't decide which one to cancel. I have 2 kids and wonder which they would enjoy most.

Welcome to Disney Central!! I have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge and can tell you from personal experience that it is MAGIC! The place is gorgeous and your two children will love it. The boat launch to MK is SO much fun. Be sure to feed the Jumping fish while you wait for the boat...

We have stayed at the CBR 4x and we have two children also. We were in the exact same predicament 2 years ago. We had booked the WL and wanted to add an extra day. They could not accomodate us so we changed to the CBR. We were glad with our decision. The main pool at CBR is better and they also have many quiet pools at each part of the hotel. We have visited the WL and we found that the one benefit it has is it is closer to Magic Kingdom and the size of the hotel is smaller so walking distance within the hotel is shorter than CBR. A bit of advice, if you do choose CBR stay at waterview Aruba. You are close to the main building but far enough away so it is a relaxed environment. Our children are older and this year they wanted to stay over in the Boardwalk area so we are staying at the Beach Club. Again, we love the CBR but the kids wanted a change of pace (much to my husbands dismay)

Let us know what you decide, Have fun!!!

wl or cbr

Thanks so much for your input. I have been going crazy trying to make a decision. This is our first trip ever to Disney. We are so excited. I need to quit reading reviews and just talk to real people. I think we are going to probably go with WL. I know that I will change my mind a dozen more times before I send my final payment. There is about an 800$ difference between the 2 resorts. Is it worth it?

I think WL is a great choice. The big difference between the two is the type of resort they are- WL is a deluxe resort and CBR is a moderate resort. Since it is your first time going I say do it up and go with the deluxe. Like I said before, we're going with a deluxe this year and are excited about it. You'll love it! Have fun!!

If money is not your deciding factor I say go with WL. I have stayed at both CBR and WL and hands down WL is my favorite. I never want to stay at another resort again. We spent 8 days at WL in July and fell in love with the resort. We loved everything about WL, from the moment we walked into that beautiful lobby to the day we checked out our stay was magic.

My DS (5) loved the pool and even in July it was never crowded. There was a CM at the pool every afternoon to do activities with the kids. The rooms are lovely and the beds are great, they are queen, unlike the CBR. You can even request bunk beds for your kids.

The transportation was great. You take a very relaxing boat ride to the MK and a bus to all the other parks. I also loved the fact that everything was in one building, if you want to refill your mug it is quick and easy, at CBR it may be quite a walk to the food court.

I could go on and on but I won't. I say stay at WL, you won't be sorry, it is truly a beautiful resort.

I wouldn't do it for $800. I love WL, but for $800 more, i would opt to go for the CBR. That will give you more money for other expenses or even another day if possible. If this is your first trip, please do yourself and your family a favor and pick up the latest edition of the Unofficial Guide to WDW and defiantely a PAssporter guide. You will want a clear plan of attack sorta speak. Knowledge of the layout and what is what will help your trip to be smoother and more enjoyable. Ask any questions you have on this site. You have vast WDW knowledge at your fingertips and many eager Dcers willing to give it...happy planning!:)

Having stayed at both, I say stay at WL!! No question!! We all adored WL and hope to stay there again sometime. We are staying at AKL this next time, but we pondered long and hard. We have never stayed at AKL, but we nearly stayed at WL again just because we loved it so much. (hoping we don't regret our decision). The pool at WL is great! The geyser is really cool. The Whispering Canyon cafe is there, as is Artist Pointe, and the food court, which we ate at several times, was very good. The CMs are awesome, and if you stay at WL maybe you can get to be the flag family one day! Let us know what you decide!

We had to make the same choice in October do we stay at WL again or do we stay at POR for $800 less. We chose to stay at POR and save the money and I can tell you we regretted it.
Stay at WL there is nothing like it.

I think that you made a wise choice. Although we havent stayed at either of them we have visited them several times for various reasons and we like the WL better. I like the fact of how its so close to the MK. The boat ride is great. We didnt really like the food at Whispering Canyon but the atomesphere etc was awesome.

Except for the cost difference

I checked out of the Wilderness Lodge yesterday and my wife and I enjoyed it very much. We have stayed at teh CBR before.

WL is superior to CBR - as you would expect 'deluxe' to be compared to 'moderate' - so if cost is no issue to you the choice is easy.

pssst.... the savings WL room savings we experienced would more than offset the cost of a AAA membership - though we were already members.
