I know someone already has thread about this but....no one is reading it so.......... wat r the bonuses to charging something to your room versus charging it directly to your credit card???

Well, there is less chance of losing your credit card, because you don't have to keep taking it out. In fact, you could leave it locked in your room safe.

Also you have the advantage of fast checkout. Your checkout will be taken care of by (I think) 8 a.m. and the charge list will be hanging on your doorknob. You won't have to go back to the reg area unless you have a discrepancy on your bill. Just have them come for your luggage and you're off.

It's also great for when you're at the pool No worries about losing your credit card since you have to have your room key with you anyway ( Just keep it in one of those waterproof plastic thingies ).

Yes it's a great idea. We always do it. That way you don't have to worry about your CC's. Keep them locked in the safe in your room!

I am psyched to use it for express check-out, since we will be switching between Pop Century and AKL during our honeymoon. It will make things a lot easier on the day we switch resorts. :)

One caveat, though. It doesn't feel like you're using real money,so you might buy more than you wanted(kind of how cruise ships set it up)!!!!!

It's a Good Thing

I would actually recommend charging to your room - with control of course. I allow my kids to have charging capability and when they want something, they can just buy it. You can also have your larger purchases delivered to your Disney Resort Hotel. This works well with glass items or breakables, or if you don't feel like carrying any packages on rides (like Splash Mtn, etc).

ps I never ever use express checkout. I make them give me a receipt and a charge listing, and I usually checkout at 3 or 4 am.

Charging to room/kids

I have a few questions for you guys...

1. Last time I went to Disney and stayed on property the room keys all had my name on them (my reservation) Is there any way I can get my kids names on their own roomkey? I think they would really be excited about that...

2. I also was wondering if you can put a limit on children's room keys...I would really like to get them a specific amount they can spend...and when its gone its gone...but I don't want it to affect MY spending limit!

The cards come with the same name of the person with the reservation. Last year, we used DH credit card to secure the charging rights and thought we would get cards with his name. Nope CM said they are in the reservation name.

If they set a limit on the card its for all the cards. Depending on the age of the kids, I would reconsider allowing them to charge. I would think if they are dependable to respect the limits you set, give them a card. Remember if they misplace a card, someone could use it. I have never had anyone check ID when using the card. We just sign and go. I have even had some CMs ask me to resign the back (ink tends to wear off) and never ask for ID.

Also remember to check the express check out. Once they charged us twice for the room, (we were charged for the deposit that had already been paid). and I didnt realize it until we got home. It was a pain to straighten out over the phone.

I have heard that you can go to the front desk on your last day and ask for a room key to be printed with your child's name on it. I planned on doing this for my DS on our last trip but completely forgot. I am not sure if this is correct but it doesn't hurt to ask before you check out.
