We had considered going to Manchester. Quite a few people do that. It is about a 4 hour drive for us, which wouldn't be bad on the day we go, but boy it would be a huge bummer to have to drive back that long to get home. It is something we should still consider.

My business networking organization, The Windy City Round Table, actually thought holding our annual leadership conference, or perhaps our annual convention up there first weekend in August (interesting story- the first time I was up there was the beginning of August 1991 which, if you may recall, was the weekend Saddam Hussien decided invading Kuwait would be a good idea. Naturally, we got called back early the next morning) because I think that's when the big "Lobster Fest" or something like it is?
Hey Paul. Glad you like it up here in Maine. Bar Harbor is definitely the picture everyone thinks of when they think of Maine. My brother was stationed in Groton for a bit when he was a submariner too. We went to visit him when he was there. Loved Mystic. Beautiful area. The lobster festival is really cool. Too bad you had to miss it, even though it is certainly understandable. The Lobster Festival has even been featured on the Food Network! Mmmmmmmm lobster...yummy! (my favorite food..good thing I live here in Maine huh? LOL)

That's what my DH keeps trying to tell me. Apparently, airlines actually have flights to places other than Orlando. Well, I knew about Los Angeles, of course, because that's where Disneyland is, but it seems there's something like a WORLD? out there....

like you said, who knew?:D :D :D

I voted for <$750 off site because I was wondering how this compares with others votes. With every other trip to WDW, a group of us (11 to 13 in all) will rent a house (5 bedrooms) and end up paying about $200 for lodging for the entire week. The price is right but it still isn't close to staying inside the parks.

If we are making a day trip we can easily do it for around $20.00 each. We usually only do counter service for meals.
Last year we stayed 4 days 3 nights at POR and we spent $1600.00 for the 5 of us. 2 adults, 3 kids. This included our Seasonal Passes and food.
