Walmart near WDW?

Is there a Walmart near WDW that one could go to for things you need for the trip but don't want to pack or ship ahead? We will be flying and there are several things I would like to have but would take up too much room in the suit cases. Is it close enough for a stop with the Town Car on the ride from the airport or would a cab ride do the trick without costing too much?

There is one but it is not ideal for a stop on the way. I had to get a belt last time, so I finally found it.

There's a Super Target right off the Greenway on the way to WDW. The Super Targets have groceries as well as the other things normally found at Target.

there working on a new walmart that will be litterly right outside of wdw property. however at this time there is one on 192 past midevil times about a 25 min ride on 192 east of disney. also if you have no car and don't need to buy much the LYNX bus system has a route out of the TTC that goes to walmart its the LINK 56 check out the lynx website for more info www.golynx.com a taxi would proably be pretty expensive and I have not heard of any towncars going there. also if your taking a towncar they normally take the 528 route as it has cheaper tolls. so they proably can't stop at the supertarget ethier. thats really the closet store at this point to for stuff like that.

Actually, from all I've heard from people who use it,Tiffany Town Cars factors in about a half an hour for a trip to the grocery store of your own choosing,so if you are using them, just tell them you want to go to Wal-Mart.

Do not go to the Wal-Mart near WDW.....it's really really really bad!! We had to wait in line just to go down each eisle!! We were in there over an hour and a half to just to pick up juice, milk, and breakfast items. I asked the lady at the checkout if there was something going on that weekend and she said it's always like that, they are the number one retail location for WalMart in the U.S.A.

Just my first hand knowledge.....

That WalMart is often insanely busy. When I was on the Disney College Program that is where they would take us for grocery shopping and no matter what time of day it was it seemed like the checkout line was always massive. Just thinking about it gives me a bad flashback, ha!

Hello, I to an thinking about making a WalMart stop. If you go to www.walmart.com, there is a place to put in a zip code to pull up all the closest ones. The Disney zip is 32830. If you put that in, it lists about five WalMarts. It will even give you directions to each one if you have a starting address to put into the system. Maybe you could decide which one you might like to try out. My family will be renting a car so we are going to head north out of the airport to Kennedy Space Center on 528 and then come back that way as well and there is a WalMart very close to the highway on John Young PKWY that we are thinking about stopping at.

Has anyone experienced this WalMart? :hmmm

ok yes I will say that walmart is normally Busy by most people's standards I forgot about that, I normally go around 1 or 2 am in the morn, so I still have to wait in line, but its only 2 or 3 people. they normally at night have 6 registers open. also If you are there at 11:55pm they close the checkouts for about 10 mins to close the buisnes day, then reopen. During the daytime hours they have a sign up that say's all registers open between XX and XX (forgot the exact times). this is the reason they are trying to build a new walmart by disney to reduce some congestion at this one. They are looking to put one in next to the Gaylord Palms hotel.

sydmacsmom I'm assuming you are talking about the one at the intersection of the John Young Parkway and Sandlake Road. I have never been inside this one but I can tell you the parking lot is always packed. The store is proably 7 to 10 mins north of 528 (beeline). one thing to keep in mind is watch to see if you can make a left out of the shopping plaza on to The John young parkway. I don't think you can. you need to make a left onto the John young to get back. (these directions will make more sense when you are in the plaza) follow the parking lot around twords Walmart then go over by lowes you will be able to go around the back of Walmart to a road that runs behind it, (note: this is a bus stop location) turn right onto the road it will take you back to the John young Parkway and you will be able to make a left. do not go out on sandlake road becuase you can only go right there (I'm 100% positive of that) ALso I'm not sure if thats a superwalmart.

Thanks for the info "15 minutes". The website says that it is a Super WalMart, so I will cross my fingers and see.

it could very well be, I don't go over that way very much, only at work and that is still rare I go over there.(I'm like a last resort for that area) I always get sent to 192 in the disney area.

I go to that WalMart all the time (it is a SUPER WALMART)...the one on 192. Every time we go to WDW, we make a bunch of stops there. Although there are a lot of people, never, ever had I experienced it that crowded! Maybe I get lucky, I don't know...we go all hours of the day, prime time, overnight...whenever. Whenever we go, it seems like EVERY cashier is open and there is barely any wait. I love that store, it has EVERYTHING you could need. It is our choice for ONE STOP SHOPPING...24 hours of the day!

Thanks iluvwdw, we are so excited. Only 13 more days to go. When we arrive we are planning on going to Kennedy Space Center first thing and then later that afternoon heading back over to Disney. This Walmart is on our way back, so I thought that it would be a good one to try. I was kind of getting a little worried thinking that maybe we should alter our plans, but I think now we will stay the course and give a try. Thanks again.
