value resort v. moderate

I have a reservation for ASMovies. But would like to stay at a moderate. (Carib)
It would cost me $30 more a night. Is it worth it? I have only stayed at AS.

HI and Welcome to DC!!!

the CBR is one of my favorites ...well its my favorite, is it worth the $30 more ..depends. If you are going to be spending a lot of time at the resort .. I would say yes. If your just going to sleep in the room and maybe have a few meals at the food court then save the money and stay at the AS.
We have stayed at the ASMovies ..loved it, in March we are staying at the new POP Century and really looking forward to it.

the service at the ASMovies is just as good as the CBR ..what you get at the CBR is a little larger room .. an in-room coffee maker and a beautiful resort that takes you away from the every day life. but in fact all of disney resorts tend to do this.
I would suggest though maybe you give the Caribbean Beach a try .. it is a beautiful resort.

I think the $30 is so worth it. We stay at the Coronado Springs, another very nice Resort. :) JOANN

It's worth $30, but like tink said, if you arent' going to spend that much time in the room, save the $30. You could add a night with what you save. Another factor to consider is how many people are going? If it's over three, then go for the moderate for $30. It will give you a wee little more space. AS can fit four, but it may be tight. Again, it all depends on how much time you intend to hang at the resort and in the room. Are you going in the off season when the parks close earlier? That would make me think I'd bein the room more so I'd opt for a bigger one. My DD and I stayed at ASmovies and ASmusic and loved each one. Never stayed at a moderate.

Just like everyone has said, if it is just a "crash place" save your money. The only other reason I would go for the upgrade is because you want a bigger bed (Queen instead of Double). Another plus is the upgrade in pools and depending on which moderate resort, you might have a marina. Me personally im a Theme Park guy and would definetly go for the AS and spend the money on sumthing at the Parks. I would actually suggest Pop Century (just because it is newer and they improved it over the AS's).

Value resorts and moderate resorts have the same size bed - double. When you upgrade to a moderate resort, you get a pool slide and a sit-down restaurant on the premises. Some of the moderate resorts have a marina with boat rentals. That's it.

Never stayed at an AS resort. Don't know if I would just based on the lines for the buses at the end of the night at the parks.

Stayed at CBR for the first time w/ hubbie and loved it. Buses weren't as crowded and everyone seemed so relaxed, no matter what time of day it was. We are going to stay there with our son this year.

It is worth the extra $$ just for the atmosphere, as others have stated, and it is less stressful.

Enjoy no matter where you stay.

I dont know what time of year you stayed at the CBR ..but we have stayed there many times, always in May ..and the busses can be standing room only .. I think as far as the busses being crowded it would really depend on the time of year maybe.

there is one thing about the CBR that can be a downside.. the check-in and guest services can be hard to get to if you are not staying at the Buildings across the road from them (with out looking at the map I am going to say off the top of my head its Barbados ) They have an internal Bus that runs just to get people around the *islands* I think the Internal runs about every 10/15 minutes

We have stayed at all the AS resorts and last August we stayed at CB. Each are fine. At CB, the rooms are bigger (the largest of any moderate resort) - in fact, that's the biggest difference as far as we could tell. We actually like the food courts at the AS resorts better than the remodeled one at CB. There are more on-site activities at CB than an AS, but most of our time is spent at the parks, so that's not too much of a concern. As far as the busses are concerned, we always drive our own car to and from the parks. As a guest at an on-site resort, you are allowed to park free at the parks anayway. Sometimes,we park at Epcot and use that as our hub. From there, you can take the monorail to MK or the boats to MGM.
:)

I have to agree. DH and I love to soak in the jacuzzi in the evenings while the kiddies are in the pool. AAAHHhhhhh...so good on aching feet!

thanks

That was great! I love all the feedback, I wish I would have found DC before now. I think we (DS, DH) will still stay at the AS for an extra night instead of going to the crb. My DS loved the huge dalmation and Buzz Lightyear at the ASmovies. When we go during the cheaper pre-Christmas time we will definitly go mod.

:D

Each resort has it's own theme. If you prefer sports, pick AS. If you perfer palm trees (like my wife) pick CBR, etc. One night extra will not seem like much until vacation is over and you have to leave! Then one more night will seem like a reprieve. ;)
I have never stayed at AS, so it isn't fair for me to compare. Which ever you choose, take a few hours one day and visit the other. That way you will know first hand which you prefer.

We stayed at CBR in mid October, great time to go-not too crowded. We are staying there this year in May (12th-22nd). Hope the buses aren't standing room only. We are trying to request Jamaica, Aruba or Martinique for this stay. It will be easier for us with our son.
