Port Orleans Riverside?

My DH and I are thinking about taking a quick trip down to disney in the middle of may. He has some time off from work because his new boss is going to be away for a week so the business is closed.
DH asked me to start pricing different resorts for that week etc. (Cant spend alot of $$$$) Since we are going back to AKL in Dec.
I told him that we should stay at CS since we were going to stay there in Dec before we changed it to AKL. (Thanks COWBOYMICKEY for all thehelp with CS)
And he asked me to look into POR.
He liked the looks of it on line and liked what my DM had to say about it. (Other than the long walk to either of 3 bus stops as well as the main house.)

My question is does anyone have an opinion, comment etc about this resort etc?

Thanks
:)

I can only say we picked POR after looking into it here on DC. There are some buildings that wouldn't be a long walk from the to the bus stops or main building.
I'm sure you'll get lots of feedback.
Enjoy the planning!!

We stayed at Port Orleans in December and we were in building 18 which really was not a long walk to the bus at all. Building 14 and 15 were even closer. Hope this helps.:D

I guess that I am a little biased when it come to POR because it is my favorite resort. All be it I have not been to all of them yet. There are two sections, Alligator Bayou and Magnolia Bend. The Alligator Bayou section is rustic and looks rather secluded. The building to ask for in that section are 14 or 15 which are right next to the main building. Magnolia Bend has a Plantation look with large courtyard areas. You can ask for buildings 85, 90 or 95. We like this section the best. There are buildings right behind the main building and pool. It is a short walk across the river. Either way you have to spend some time walkign along the river it is bueatiful. You can also catch a boat ride to Downtown Disney on the river.

I am not sure what you consider inexpensive but...... if ya want something new and inexpensive then try Pop Century. It is bound not to be full anytime within the next few months. Sounds like a good time to try it to me!!

POR is our favorite resort. We have stayed at just about everyone now and it is still our favorite. The only long walks to the bus stops are if you are in the middle of alligator bend then it only about a 3 to 5 min walk to the closest one. The longest walk is shorter than the walk to the bues at either EPCOT or MK or AK.

I suggest lodges 14, 15 or 18 if you don't have a car or 25 or 27 if you want to drive to the parks.

Plus the best food court is at POR. Just stay away from their delivery pizza late at night.

I have stayed at POR on my last two trips to WDW, once in December 2002 and November 2003. Both times we stayed in the Magnolia Bend section, the first trip in Magnolia Terrace, the 2nd trip in Oak Manor. Both were great and the walk was not very long to the bus stop and main building. Plus the grounds are so beautiful that the walk is actually really enjoyable, especially in the morning when the sun is bright and everything is just gorgeous. The food court was great. One night on this last trip we spent one night hanging out at the River Roost which is the resort lounge and there was live entertainment which was great. The bus service was always good too plus the boat to Downtown Disney is wonderful! The first time I stayed there with my parents and they loved it and then the 2nd trip was with 4 of my good friends (we had connecting rooms) and they loved it too - so it is appealling to all age groups! Have fun!

We have stayed at POR several times. It is our favorite moderate resort. We prefer the Magnolia section. I have never noticed the long walks, and perhaps that is because the atmosphere is so relaxed. We also enjoy the boat ride to DTD. I think if you choose POR you will be pleased.
