Polynesian Room request

Any thoughts on where and HOW to request a specific room at the Polynesian. It is my first time staying there. I know I have a "garden view" room at this point. Should I get more specific or does it not matter

We stay at the Poly all the time every room and building is good I always ask at checkin for a remodeled room.Just be prepared when you get in your room to do some house cleaning maids do a bad job.We just do it ourselves complaining doesent help,we stay there twice a year and have gotten used to it.We will always love the Poly clean or dirty:D Faxing the Poly for a room request does not work

The polly! Wow. That place is beautiful. Lucky you. Like Polyman said, just try for a request at check-in.

poly room tips

hi!remember as to how long you will be in your room.. not very much! most rooms here are 409 sq. feet.I understand there are rooms that face the beloved castle and that is where I would be but it is very costly! A family of 4 for a week in that room runs $3000.00!!!!! The poly is georgous as far as the landscaping and tropical gardens and tropical food! Have fun!!!

Hey Mitchhorowitz! Glad to have you on board!

I have never stayed at the Poly but hope to one day. I know that several people on this board have requested a specific building or a specific upgrade and some have received and some have not. I would ask regardless of others experiences since you never know who might be in a good mood on a given day. :D

Have you tried using the search feature on the front page? There have been some creative room requests here. Check it out and maybe something will help you there!

Again... welcome to DC! :)

I have never heard that before polyman, how sad that mousekeeping is lacking there. I have only stayed at CBR and WL and found the rooms to be very clean.

Yes we are able to stay there a lot with my cast discount, the rooms are filthy so we clean it.Complaining is a waste of time we have learned so we dont anymore. We figure if the maids forget to clean I forget to tip.Maybe I should try tapeing a tip on the wall next to the food smear and the food on the unswept floor and dirty bathroom floor.Thinking next trip of grabbing the maids vac off her cart and doing it myself and bringing a swiffer for the bathroom.still love the Poly though:D

I was thinking, polyman, that maybe the reason your room at the Poly is dirty is because Mousekeeping knows that your room is a cast member room and they figure they don't have to do as good a job as for a full-paying guest. JMHO

Wow, I can't believe that. I stayed there in December and our room was spotless, I could have eaten off of the bathroom floor! I stayed in Tahiti, if that makes a difference.

I love the resort and I can't believe that it is as dirty as you say it is...! I am staying there for 8 days in December, and I hope it is as clean as I remember it! :nervous

Can't say it was actually dirty, but we were never really impressed with the mousekeeping there last march, we tipped good at least $5.00 a day, the bathroom never had towels and NEVER even got a towel animal.

Petty as it was we still would recomend poly, just we would not go back, next time we will try a moderate or value resort.

I have to agree with iluvwdw on this. We stayed there the previous December and it was beautiful. The rooms were always clean and we had plenty of towels. I highly recommend this resort always.

mitchhorowitz-we didn't request a specific room and also had a garden view. What we got was Aotearoa with a view of the monorail. We LOVED our room. My DD's favorite thing is the monorail so she was delighted to be able to be out on the balcony as they passed by. It was a quick walk to the pool, marina, and food area. If I couldn't have a castle view;) , I would ask for this area again.

Have a great trip!

Lauren

We stayed at the Poly last June in Fiji and the room was clean, however, we had a problem with mousekeeping getting there later and later each day. One day they did not come until 3PM. Still loved the Poly though.

As for room request, I requested Fiji because it has a great view for a Garden View room. Our room looked over the Marina, the back of the volcano at the pool, and we could see the Contempoary and the monorail from our room. I did fax a request but just asked for a nice view because I had an injured leg and would probably be in the room a lot and needed something close to Great Ceremonial House.

Have heard the less specific you are the more likely you will get request, and if they know why you are making a request that they wil try to accomodate it. Also, this way you will not be disappointed.

Hmmm... just wondering: can one request early housekeeping service? We plan to trek out fairly early each day, but will likely be back around noon for our childrens' naps. I'd hate to have housekeeping knocking on the door while the kids are asleep.
