Interesting... during my comparison of AKL and WL the AKL seems to have a much higher rate of negative reviews compared to the other resorts I have researched, but everybody seems to rave about it here. I guess it shows that opinions are like elbows, everybody has one, and they are usually ugly. ;)

<EDIT> Sorry I forgot to post the link...there are at least 4 or 5 pages of reviews there. For every negative review there are 2 or 3 rave reviews, but that ratio seems higher than the others I have researched, like the WL and Swan.

Thats odd. I don't think I've seen anyone here say anything negative about AKL. Most rave about it. What negative things have you heard?

I read the reviews in the link and some of these reviewers were dissappointed becasue of utter nonsense. There is one that goes on about making PS's. They said they had to call an off-site company to do that...lol give me a break! They were not informed and obviously went at a peak time. Had they done their homework, they would have had their meals planned and set to go. The one that made this complaint claimed they worked in the travel industry...scary to me for the people she books trips for. This hotel is great. Some people cannot be pleased no matter what is done for them...they are the ones in the lobby screaming about soap or 15min waits for a room. They are ones that go to be served not for the magic of WDW. They can stay at home and we that love it there will be more happy for it. Sorry ....off soap box now.

I didn't read all the reports on the aforementioned site, but from just one report I got the feeling some people don't understand why one does things far in advance of your stay. You can't book a room and wait till you get there and try to make reservations at restaurants. Also the people that seemed to complain the most were there at holiday time periods. Just my opinion. I just got a chance to read your post Dana, and you got it right!
The AKL is a great resort and a great place to eat (IMHO).
If one is not happy then go some where else. I'll be at the Happiest Place on Earth! :D :) Joe

Let them stew and go elsewhere. Greater chances for us to get an upgrade. :p

I've found the hotel to be nothing but stellar. I'll never forgot wandering outside a viewing window one day and watching a poor bellhop wandering room to room to room again with a really rude family squawking about how horrible the view from the room was - there was nothing 'pretty' too look at (I was staring at three zebra and two giraffe and assorted others right outside where we were) and it was dirt and grass everywhere (duh, try the REAL savannah) It was hot, they had too much luggage, but the 'hop still kept on whistling and chattering about how he was determined to find them a dream room.

That's just awful!!:( I can't stand being anywhere near people like that, there just isn't much that is going to make them happy.:dazed It sounds like that bellhop really went above and beyond.

I read one really bad review about a person who booked a trip for his wife and daughter for Christmas time. I gotta say this person obviously booked the trip and just never really planned. From the review it sounds like he had no idea that booking the trip is only the begining and that planning the trip is what's all about! ESPECIALLY at Christmas time! He complains that they were unable to book any special events, just goes to show ya that people just don't get it, you gotta plan, plan, plan! Thanks goodness for sites like DC!

I agree! It isn't the fault of AKL that he didn't plan and couldn't get in to anything special. I am sure he would have had the same results wherever he stayed.
I have a coworker going to WDW over April vacation. When I asked her what parks they are doing each day, she says they are going to "play it by ear". AYE CARUMBA!!! All I can say is "Good Luck"! :dazed

I read some of those negative reviews. All I can say is the night I stayed there last year was great,and i can't wait to stay at AKL for the night of joy weekend this year!!!
