I voted somewhat important. I like to be fairly close to the food court. But all the views are great. DH has a scooter so that helps. We stayed at POR and were close to food, pools, laundry, busses well pretty much everything.:)

When we stayed at POR this past trip in Oct. 2003, my mother made a request, even though we weren't really sure exactly what we were requesting and if we would get it. We got what we requested and it was terrific. We were even happy with the second room we had to move to after I got hurt at BB and had to be on a scooter for the rest of the visit. (provided by Disney and they moved us to a Handicapped ground floor room in the same building at no charge).

Back when we used to stay there in the 70s and early 80s, I don't know if my parents ever asked for a particular area in a hotel, and sometimes we even showed up and got a room at the CR without even having a reservation. Things were so different back then.

I voted somewhat important because I do like to be close to the food court. The main reason is that it is me who has to run to the food court in the morning and get 2 coffee and 3 hot chocoaltes while everyone else is getting dressed.(What are moms for-LOL).

I know I must be very strange, because unless its something like needing a downstairs room at the CBR because of DH's wheelchair, I really dont have to have a special location.
I have to agree with Tinkerbell, I don't think there is a bad location. We were quite a-ways-away from the above mentioned and actually enjoyed the walk through the park like area. It was exercise, which this family is too lazy to schedule. We are not picky about anything as long as it's a nice, clean room in which everything, including the lightbulbs, are in working order.

Re: location, location, location

Room location is very important to me. I have not been disappointed with any room I have been given at the WL, but I think as someone else said, that the deluxe resorts don't seem to be as spread out as the mods or values. The times I have been disappointed were at CBR and CSR. Those resorts are huge! At CBR we had a water view room which gave us a great view when we opened our door, but I have no idea where the main building was! After we checked in, we never saw it again! At CSR, we were again located a great distance from the main lobby/food court and the hike to get there in the heat was miserable. The best location I have had was right above the WL lobby. Great place to watch people, and very centrally located.

Re: location, location, location

We want to update our last reply. We stayed off site on our last visit and will never do it again. You never how much easier it is on site until your not there. So room location is very important

Re: location, location, location

really I thought at first this was a "just fun" thread..but after thinking about it .. if I was brand new to WDW and knew nothing at all about the resorts.. I would find this interesting.

Re: location, location, location

I voted somewhat important. Staying onsite anywhere is great. However, when we stayed at the POFQ we got a great room. Right next to the food court, pool, laundry, boat launch. When we stayed at the contemp. last Oct, I didn't know any better and just asked for a good room. Well, we were given a room with a nice view of the water, but it was one of the farthest away rooms you could possibly get. We were far away from the food court, monorail, arcade, even the MK. So, if you stay at the Contemporary, make sure you ask for a room close to the things you want. The walk was not terrible, but when you are tired at the end of the day, every step is an effort!
