Can I book 2 rooms at different resorts with AP discount?

As some of you know we want to go back in August so we can spend time with our English family, I would very much like to get their room at a discount .. I know Dixie and her family perfer POR / Dixielandings, but because we will have been twice already we will need to book at one of the value resorts (but I am hoping to add a couple of nights at the Contemp at the end of our stay) So my question is .. can I book their room at POR using our AP's if we are staying at Pop Century? Or do we all have to be staying at the same resort?

Hi Tink,
I do know this one. You have to be staying at the same resort to get the AP discount.
AP holders are qualified to get 3 rooms at a discount. If your spouse has one, that means you could get 3 more, but you do have to be staying at the same Resort.
Got our friends discounts for May, and we are all staying at the CSR. Then Joe & I will move over to the AKL for our last 4 nites.
Good Luck & hope everything works out for you.
Oh, one more thing, I even asked them before I was able to get everyone a discount with our AP, if I could use my Disney Visa for a better rate. That answer was, "only one room , and it had to be the card holder". At least I tried...:) JOANN

so if we checked in to POR for at least one night and got their room then moved to the P.C. could we do it that way?? or would we have to be there the entire time they are? I know we maybe leaving WDW before they do. We have a frend from CA. coming too but I know she will stay where ever we do, no problem getting her a room on our AP's I am sure.
heck maybe the AP rates in August will be good enough that we can stay at POR ..we havent stayed there since it was Dixielandings, but we liked it ok.

I would say, if you were staying at the Resort the same time your friends were. Then, you left, who would know!!! Although, Disney knows everything. But, when you actually think about it, you would not be doing anything wrong. Because, at the time your friends checked in, you were also a guest at that Resort. Good luck!!! :) JOANN

Yes, you have to be staying at the resort, and for the entire length of the stay, since the reservation has to be made with both rooms on the same reservation. Maybe you can talk Dixie into the POP, or the WL the last couple of nights.

lol I want talk her in to AP's .. I keep telling her that it would be worth it since they stay for 3 weeks ..lol ya'll help me convince her it would save them some money!! I must be doing it wrong. But I know they would see a huge savings if they got the AP's . she did ask me when we got back what we thought of the Pop C. I told her we really liked it. Who knows depending on August discounts maybe we can just all Stay at POR or depending on how much time we are even going to be able to spend together we may try spliting our stay up. I know she signed up with Mouseketrips *grin* .. so you could always tell her the options Mickey, I trust you to get her the best deal :)

WOW!!!! Dixie, you go for 3 weeks and DON'T get AP's?? What kind of pass do you get? Geesh, the discount in the room alone would probabally pay for your tickets!!! We just bought AP's and saved a little over $100 on 5 nights at the resort....that's $100 over the discount codes that were already out!!!

*how's that Tink??*

Whoa, I'll second that! I'm not an AP holder, but I have deduced that even my 8-day, once-a-year trip would be worth the purchase of APs! Like they said, the discount on the resort alone is worth it!!

WHEW...how do you pay for 3 weeks *without* APs?? Just hopper passes, or what???

I did it I did it I did it!!!!!!
I just got off the phone with Dixie .. (I think I made them miss tea time) after an hour call to Jolly Old England .. I have her convinced that getting AP's is the best plan
*pats her self on the back*

now here is the rest of my plan.. I will order their 3 AP's and hold them hostage until they arrive at WDW *grin* .. I will also book their room (their arrival dates are still up in the air ) using my AP when the AP Discount rates come out ..then when they arrive .. all she need do is transfer to her's since she will have the AP's

We decided also that I would order them the Theme Park AP's and if they wanted they could upgrade to the PAP's later :) because you can upgrade but not downgrade !!
So how does this sound?? Did I do good or what :D

lol Dixie is the one we met up with back in 2002 .. when we stayed at the AKL ..
well one thing has changed since my last post .. I am going to wait and let her book the room, when she knows for sure what day they will arrive. .. since I will be holding her AP's(well not the actually AP's but the temp cards ) hostage I feel pretty confident

Re: Can I book 2 rooms at different resorts with AP discount?

Tink,

She doesn't have to have an active AP to book a room at an AP rate. You can go ahead and put the room in her name now. She will just have to show the AP at check-in time.

Hope this saves you some time.

Re: Can I book 2 rooms at different resorts with AP discount?

Actually, for our upcoming trip, MIL will be joining us but staying at another resort. We just booked her room under my DH's name since he has an AP. Our room is booked under my name so we are getting the discount too. The ONLY catch is that DH will have to stop by their resort to show his AP. That's it.

But I guess since your friend will have her own AP now too, you don't have to worry about it anymore.
