Epcot changes

Hi,

Is AT&T no longer the sponsor of SpaceShip Earth. Rode it today and no mention was made of AT&T at the end of the ride, and the Global Neighborhood was GONE!!! Like nothing in that room where it used to be???

Also, what is the huge new building near The Land??

From what I have heard there are no plans to change SSE but they are looking for a sponsor for the after show. Lets hope someone picks it up a sponsorship of SSE soon!

The large building is Soaring. Will be like Soaring Cal. in DCA.

Rumor is that Soaring will cause some change in Canada's showcase. Possible a new ride? Could it be a Brother Bear theme water ride?

I believe the building near the land is where soarin is going to be, and you will enter it fro m where food rocks used to be. It is supposed to be finished early next year. However, since I haven't seen it, I can only guess from the other things that I have read.

There is supposed to be something else going in where At&T used to be at the end of Spaceship Earth. I'm not sure exactly what yet, but I'll go look look on Allearsnet and Mouseplanet, and see if I can find it. I saw it on there, but I can't remember what it was right this second.

Soaring rocks! It's one of the few good things about Disneyland California.

Soarin has been started. It is basically just the metal shell of the building, when I was there in February. I was doubting then that it would be ready by next year.

Re: Epcot changes

Not too much infrastructure required. It's just a high end motion simulator. Hopefully it will open on schedule.

Soaring is three rows of seats that pull up vertically in front of a giant screen.

On the screen is projected an IMAX like film of scenes.

It feels as if you are hanggliding through the scenes. I love getting on the ride and then slipping off my shoes/sandals. That way, when the ride starts my feet are dangling as the ride swings through the scenes. One scene in particular is over a golf course in Palm Springs. It's as if your toes are running through the grass.

As I've said before, it is one of the few reasons to venture over into Disneyland California.

I think it would be so cool to soar over the disney properties all over the world ... Wouldn't it be great to soar around the castles?

Re: Epcot changes

Soarin' Over California is a great ride at California Adventure. It is one of those rides that runs out of Fast Passes before 12 noon on any given day. It is fabulous to smell the oranges as you go over the orange groves. It is a very refreshing ride. I look forward to experiencing WDW's version next year.

By the way, Soarin' is a great ride, but for those of us who use to experience the old rides at the Long Beach pier, California Adventure brings back that flavor with the boardwalk games, and California Screamin' (roller coaster). There are many things that could be done to CA, but it is a nice relaxing park. FYI - Grizzly Rapids isn't too bad either.

Sorry for the rambling, but I believe that people need to know that the CA parks are great. People need to remember that Disney did not have loads of money at that time, and the land he purchased was small -- orange groves in Orange County. Disneyland is small compared to it's counter part the Magic Kingdom, but it packs in many of the same rides, plus others you find at the other parks in the World. If you go to CA for a World adventure you will not find it. It is a 2-3 day fun adventure, but then you add Hollywood, San Diego, the mountains, the beaches, and much much more, you have CA. Visit sometime, you might enjoy it.

Since Soarin' is going to be at Epcot, it might just be about the world. Whatever it will represent, it will be a great addition to a park that needs a few new pick me ups.

Re: Epcot changes

It will be Soarin' over California when it opens in spring of 2005. Rumors say that in 2007 it will change to a different theme, possibly Florida, USA, or the world. I'm just excited that Epcot is getting another thrill ride.

Me too!! Epcot is quickly becoming thrill ride central with M:S, Test-Track, and now Soarin'. I guess they are just bringing it up to par with the other parks, since MK and MGM have way more.
