Decided to extend, what to do?

OK guys heres the run down.
Ashley and I have decided to extend our vaca by 2 more nights.
So it went from 5 nights, to now 7. Wow a full week in WDW!!!
Anyways any ideas on what to do, we have made the following ideas.

1)Just extend at PO-FQ for 2 more nights and take in a water park or just relax.
2)Get a hotel off prop and take in the sites of I-drive/usf/seaworld
(I know why not stay on prop and just drive, the magic gets ruined when I do that, since now I know there's an actual place outside wdw! )
3)Head to Tampa and get a hotel there and go to Busch Gardens
4)Head to the beach, either clearwater, daytona, cocoa
5)Drive back up to the panhadle of Fla and stay at Destin, that way we're closer to AL, as its only a 3+hour drive to montgomery
6)This is a secret to Ashley so don't let her know...I think she lurks the board sometimes Stay at a delux for the 2 nights left and just stay at WDW.

You know I don't even know why I ask, because I know number 6 may be the answer everyone will pick. Why do you think it's under the resort catagory??
Ok with that settled, thoughts guys, please??

Re: Decided to extend, what to do?

Well, I'm always up for #6 (hope DBF is reading this! ;) ). We're actually attempting a quick "non-Disney" vacation by staying at DAKL -- that is, going to the parks one day or so, and spending some time just chilling out at the pool, wandering around the resort, and just doing nothing in general for a change. (And maybe dragging him to that outlet mall now that he's found exactly where it is! ;) ) So you can -- if it's in your budget -- combine 1 & 6. As I kinda implied, I like DAKL, but the Yacht or Beach Club would be good choices too w/ the cool pool area, shared restaurants, and location right next to the Boardwalk. :)

Re: Decided to extend, what to do?

You should surprise her (no peeking at this Ashley!) with a deluxe for your final two nights. Pull out all the stops and really "WOW" her. I would spend it actually enjoying a resort if it were up to me. The deluxes are like parks of their own with so much to offer. Can't beat time alone with the one you love surrounded by pure Disney magic! Let us know what you decide. I can't wait to hear....no peeking at this Ashley...

Re: Decided to extend, what to do?

Yes, #6 would be my first choice. #4 or #5 would be my second choice, and a very good option at that! ( I would love to go to Destin! I hear it is beautiful!)
Last year after one of our trips, we went up to St Augustine. Spent 2 nights there at a Hampton in on the beach. It was awesome. What a great way to end a wonderful trip at WDW. It was so relaxing. And a perfect way to end the trip. It is hard to leave Disney and drive home for 20 hours. I like spending 2 nights somewhere on the way home. Kind of prepares me for going back to reality.

Lucky you,Amneris, he is.

Coming from someone who spent 3 extra nights at a Value Disney resort after having just spent 8 nights at a Deluxe Disney Resort, #6 would be my choice. Even though it was an hour drive each way to visit my sister and family, I couldn't pass up staying at Disney for just a little while longer. While technically we *did* do a park during week # 2 (Blizzard Beach) for part of a day, we mostly just stayed longer just to relax in between driving in and out of Orlando.

While I'm not sure about that mall part (come on, sweetheart, we already have our park tickets-- How can we avoid an extra day of running about? ) the intent of our next Disney trip IS to just kick back and relax in-between Star Wars Weekend-ing.

Re: Decided to extend, what to do?

What a terrible position to be in! Hee hee!! That's very exciting!! I vote for #6. Pick a deluxe resort you know she'd love and just spend time enjoying the resort, Downtown Disney & the Boardwalk. You could do the same thing just extending your current room but if you want to splurge for the big surprise go for it! I'd stay away from packing it too full. My favorite WDW vaca. was the one where we spend 9 nights at the Poly but only went to the parks every other day.

Re: Decided to extend, what to do?

Hey yall,
Thanks for the input, I so badly want to stay and get a deluxe for the next couple nights.
We have enough tickets for the time we're there, plus cm discounts abound I can afford a deluxe for a couple days.
Shoot I just heard the waterparks are $10 a pop for tickets, so thats gonna get thrown in there for a day.
Problem is I would love to go to Destin for a couple days. Also she would too. Plus it being only 3 hours from home, it would make that drive back A LOT easier. (although 8 hours isn't too bad!) Oh the crystal clear blue green water...ah I so miss the emerald coast! Magical Moments, I have never seen water so clear in the panhandle as Destin. It always makes you wonder how the people messed panama city beach up so bad!
Anyways the hotels in Destin are about the same as a deluxe hotel, maybe more, plus I get no discount. I would love to spoil her and take her for a concierge room for a couple nights. SO I can either spend 200/night for a beach front room in destin, or concierge at wdw. (I forget where, I think they offered me a room at BW, oh and only partial concierge at the contemp.)
Its just such a hard decision, they are all good options and I would love to take a couple days more at wdw. I just have to remember not to over do it though, since after graduation (next may) I'll be back down there working!

Re: Decided to extend, what to do?

Oh and she hasn't peeked yet!!!! I told her she would get a surprise on the last 2 nights but I haven't planned it yet since I am still not sure what we're doing. Now she's curious and cant wait for the last 2 nights. I just have to make sure it's romantic. Argh either a room with a view of fireworks or a savanah room at AK? I need something romantic!!!

Re: Decided to extend, what to do?

OK I couldn't hold it in, I got a Savannah room at DAKL....not only that I spilled the beans to ashley. (um is $175/night good for a savannah room??)
I just cannot believe how excited we both are now!!
But all my planning has been thrown out the window as she wants to be spontaneous now....

Re: Decided to extend, what to do?

Sounds like a great choice to me. DAKL is my favorite place to just unwind and feel as if I'm somewhere else while at WDW. Nice catch with the Savannah room!
I hope dgf and I are able to enjoy the same when we go.

Re: Decided to extend, what to do?

Hey Geeman,
You should be able to score a room at DAKL, you better seems yer dgf has been checkin the thread!
Anyways I was thinking Y&BC just to go to stormalong bay for a day, since I've heard so much about that. After all the prices thought I could not believe the deal I was getting with DAKL. I was a little upset that concierge was unavailabe or not offered when I called this time around. Sometimes the disney reservation place has some great cm's sometimes they dont.

Re: Decided to extend, what to do?

Ohhh, he's learning! ;) Just gotta work some more on that mall part ... probably shouldn't have dragged him to the outlet mall THIS weekend ... oh well... :)

downsouthtigger, that savannah room sounds GREAT!!! And, btw, that's less than the rest of us have to pay to look at DAKL's parking lot, so you got a TERRIFIC deal! :) Have either of you ever stayed there before??? It's really a great place to hang out at, and I'm sure you two will love just sitting out on the balcony and looking for giraffes. If you like travel games, you could bring a couple along to play out there. We haven't tried Boma's yet, but the menus from Deb's website show an unbelievable yummy breakfast buffet! We've been to Jiko's which is a very nice looking restaurant - up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. And I love the gift shop there -- Geesh, I better stop typing as I'm going to head to the airport 18 days early!!!! :)

Re: Decided to extend, what to do?

Amneris,
I never thought of playing games out there....Good tip!! Ashley has decided to let us go to Boma one night, and I think we're going to go before our stay so we can get a feel for the resort. I'm just so happy to get a savannah room, that I think our last full day there will probably be a rest day to check out the resort itself.
Oh and dont drag geeman to the mall, geez, that place is close to where the cp kids are, so I've had my fair share of days over there. The deals arent really that great ya know?? Did yall go to the outlet mall or to the mall at Millenia?? You want to see expensive head out there, wow!
