Staying at the GF in September on the concierge level. Can anyone give any details as to room requests etc. I have 2 DS's age 7 and 4. I thought I read where some rooms are bigger then others. Tower room I believe? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Best room at GF?
Rich
There are two levels of concierge at GF. Are you in the main building or the sugarloaf building? If you are in sugarloaf, you can request a tower room, which are the rooms on the corners of the buildings. They are larger than the standard rooms, and have windows all around, but some people do not like them, since the beds are kind of just out in the middle of the room, since there really aren't many walls at all. Personally, I would tell concierge that you want a view of the Magic Kingdom from your room, because of the little kids. If you want to go with the tower rooms, request it directly from concierge, it usually isn't a problem at all getting one.

Re: Best room at GF?
If you like the concierge lounge, I understand the main building is better (and slightly more expensive). I tried to upgrade our rooms there tonight and as I understand their are Standard Concierge, Deluxe Concierge, 1BR Suite, 2BR Suite, Honeymoon Suite, and Victorian Suite.
I'm hoping that they have an evening storytime similar to the concierge lounge at the Grand California at DL. My DD loves it.

Re: Best room at GF?
If you have the patience - feel free to check out our family website and see our pictures of our regular room at Sugarloaf (concierge). For some reason, my husband put all the pictures on one page - on our old site I had them divided up - SO - that's why I say - if you have the patience for them to load, I took several pictures of our room and all around the GF. There are a few at the top of the page, but several more, closer to the bottom.
http://www.ihoff.com/family/family_disney03.htm We loved it and are going back this year. We had a lagoon view room, which was fine - but maybe would have preferred pool view. But, we were on the first floor - which gave us QUICK access to the concierge food offerings and we zipped right out of our building, walked over to the main building to hop on the monorail. We were happy with our room and location. If you have only dial up access, let me know, and I'll put them up seperately on a page so you can view just the hotel pictures.

Re: Best room at GF?
Your pictures look great! 2 questions for you, I have read many times on this board the the GF waas a little stuffy for children. I have 4 and 7 year old excitable, adventurous little boys. Did you find the hotel set up more for adults then children?
Secondly, for a room preference you said you may have been better off with a pool view then the lagoon view I am curious why? Did the lagoon view also have a view of the castle? Thanks.

Re: Best room at GF?
Rich,
My husband, my 2 year old daughter, and I stayed at the GF this past December in the main building on the 2nd floor. Our room was technically a "honeymoon" room, but we were assigned it because we had requested a king size bed and a lagoon view. To our delight, it had the most perfect view of Cinderella's castle, plus a wonderful Jacuzzi tub that I soaked in almost every night! I would say that, given the ages of your sons, a castle view would be worth its weight in gold -- my then 23 month old was mesmerized by the fireworks shows and the changing colors, and it bought my husband and I a few moments' rest each night! I realize that a single king bed wouldn't work for you (our daughter slept in a travel bed we brought from home), but I would definitely recommend calling the concierge about 4-5 days before your trip (as we did) and requesting a castle view. Incidentally, we had also faxed in our request, but the concierge my husband spoke to told him that they actually prefer telephone calls to faxes. We did not find the GF too stuffy at all, and we felt very welcome, even with a noisy 23 month old. You will find that the concierge lounge has little kid sized tables with a tv right in front of them, which is wonderful for breakfast and snacks. All in all, we absolutely loved staying there and can't wait to return, but we are considering staying at the Poly for our trip this Dec simply because we've never stayed there before, and people always seem to say such wonderful things about it. Have a wonderful time! |

Re: Best room at GF?
When I stayed at the GF concierge last year, I told Disney I HAD to have a room overlooking the Magic Kingdom in the main building. It was a great room.
