Caribbean Beach Resort

My daughter and I are booked to stay in the Caribbean Beach Resort for our October 3rd trip. I have heard so many mixed reviews of this hotel. Has anyone just got back from there and can give me some details of the renovations everyone seems to have be talking about? I can't imagine they are still doing them. I also would like to know which "island" anyone has stayed in. Which do you recomend? Please keep in mind that it is me and my daughter (she's 8), so the less walking there the better. Last trip , we stayed at All Start Movies and they put us out in no mans land. After walking the parks all day etc. I did not want to hear her whine about walking in the resort area too. LOL It's alot of walking on those little legs. Anyway, I am rambling here. Any insight is much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions.:)

Thanks!:D I am really excited about staying there and was concerned with the mixed reviews. My daughter and I always stay one of the All Star Resorts, but this time I wanted something a little different. My travel agent talked me into this one and from what you have said, I'll have to thank her. Thanks for your response.

Dana, I like Caribbean Beach, and it will definitely be a step up from the All Stars. The theming is very nice, as the pool area and the rooms. I am sure that you will enjoy it. Make sure you check the map before you go, and request the room location you prefer.

I usually suggest that people stay in Aruba or Jamaica. They are both secluded, yet close to the main building and pool.

Dana, We stayed at cbr last year and are staying there this year. We enjoyed it for the money. We have stayed at the Floridian, Polynesian, and the Contemporary. You and your daughter will love it. The pool is nice for kids. Have a ball. We stayed in Martinique. It was close to dining and main pool.

CBR is where we stayed 10 years ago for our Honeymoon. We decided, this last April when we were there, to drive around and look at it again. It is a beautiful resort. I loved the rooms back then, but I saw pictures recently of a few that looked Horrible. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews too, but from personal experience I really liked it, but that was 10 years ago. I know there are people who visit this site and post here that have been there in the last few years, so hopefully they'll post something about it.

There was someplace that had pictures online so you could look at the resort. I don't remember where it was though, but Mickey might know....or some of the other members. Good Luck Dana and I hope you have a wonderful visit.

Thanks for the pictures! I have seen them. I get Deb's weekly newsletter too!! I am feeling much more confident about this hotel. Thanks to all of the replies. I have always stayed at All Star and knew what to expect and I think I let a few negative people turn my original opinion of the place. Hey, even if its a straw bed in shack...it's still Disney so who cares:p Kidding all! I'm sure it is going to be great.

When we stayed at AKL this last April I absolutely fell in love with it. I was in awe from the moment we drove up. The sites, sounds and smells (from Jiko and Boma, not from the animals :D ) made me feel as though I was in a dream, in Africa! Anyway, one evening we were doing laundry and a woman in the laundry room had been there already for a couple of weeks and she went on and on and on about how she thought the resort was horrible and nothing special whatsoever. I really thought the woman had lost her marbles to think that. So, just goes to show that no matter how beautiful and magical a place is, there is always someone who will say it's awful. I wouldn't be worried at all about staying at CBR, I think you and your daughter will love it and have a great time.

Thanks Goofette! I think you are right. Some people are never satisfied at all. I can't imagine anyone finding the AKL anything but beautiful. The pictures alone make you want to stay there. I am glad you enjoyed your stay. :)

We stayed in room 2512 Martinique from July 1-7. It was great. We were close to the food court/gift shop, the room was comfortably large, the mousekeepers were awesome, the grounds lush and beautiful. Don't worry-you'll have a great time. I've stayed at the All-Stars, also. CBR is a step up, but I can certainly see the value of the All-Stars(unless you have a discount code for CBR). Either of them will give you a great Disney experience. Have a magical journey! :)
