Yacht vs. Beach Club

My boss and his family are planning on going back to WDW in July (week of the 26th) and they would like to stay near a really cool pool area, so they can take an afternoon break every day, so I suggested the Yacht & Beach Club.

Which one do you prefer?? and Why??? Any tips or treasures to tell me about??

He will be there for a convention that week, but decided to bring the family along and use those annual passes they bought in February!!

Re: Yacht vs. Beach Club

Also, AP discounts through the July 4th have been published already. They show $214/night at Y&BC's...do you think after July 4th the rates will be more or less than that??

Re: Yacht vs. Beach Club

I'm waiting to be completely wrong here as I've never stayed at either :) , just visited Yacht a few times, but it seems to me that Beach is closer to the pool and is less "reservered" in attitude than the Yacht Club. Yacht Club has the steak restaurant, Beach Club has the ice cream parlor. The colors of Beach are more pastel and whimisical, Yahct's a bit more primary and severe. But I think it's overall pretty much a toss up between the two as they're really more like one giant resort.

Re: Yacht vs. Beach Club

I've stayed at them both - It's a little more relaxed at the Beach Club
You can't go wrong with either one -

Storm-Along bay is a great pool

I really like the Beach Club. I feel it's more family oriented.

Re: Yacht vs. Beach Club

I prefer the Yacht Club, but then I also have a tatoo of a tall ship on my arm ! I would have to agree with the general consensus that the Beach Club feels a bit more laid back, but as you can see in my signature we love both.

Make sure he faxes in a room request about four days before going and ask for a room near Stormalong Bay. These resorts are bigger then they seem and you can end up walking for a good ten minutes to get from your room to the pool.

My DW just added a couple of pluses to the Beach, closer to the rear entrance to Epcot, seems a bit quieter in the lobby, closer to Beaches & Cream.

If he needs a guide during the trip I would be happy to go!

Re: Yacht vs. Beach Club

BDavis932, I too, agree with the majority. I love the Beach Club (bought my DVC there, sight unseen!) and it does seem more casual than the YC. I usually see more convention people at the YC and less families. Your boss will be delighted!

Re: Yacht vs. Beach Club

Beach Club!!! You may even get a room with fireworks view! Be sure to try the whirlpool in the pool by where the slide comes out... it's not a whirlpool like a jacuzzi, but a real actual whirlpool with water churning around in circle... it is a strong current and it is FUN! I can't even describe it right. Just trust me!

Re: Yacht vs. Beach Club

I would say Yacht Club. My first trip to the Yacht Club was 6 months ago on the concierge level. The CMs were just wonderful. I had friends of mine who live in Orlando who were to hang out with me during my stay and go to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween at the MK, only to find that they were going to be out of town that week.

When the CMs at the concierge found out, they invited me to go with them, and so I did. I still keep in touch with them now. And I'll be staying at the Yacht Club this Thursday.

Even though the Yacht Club could be seen as more "proper" than the relaxed environment of the Beach Club, having those extra magical experiences make me a Yacht Club fan through and through.

Re: Yacht vs. Beach Club

Either one would be great. We have stayed at the Yacht Club, but have also "toured" BC and been through it several times while we were staying at YC. The Beach club is indeed a little more laid-back" and it's a little closer to the Epcot entrance. But both have access to Stormalong Bay - the greatest pool in all of Disney-dom!

Re: Yacht vs. Beach Club

oh if this is going to be a family vacation, i highly recommend the beach club. the beach club is a very kid friendly place to stay. the colors are very cheerful in the lobby and the room, cape may cafe is there where the kids can meet chip & dale, minnie and goofy at breakfast time, and the pool has a pirate ship that has a slide in it. the beach club is also very close to epcot. it'll only take you 5 minutes to walk there without getting everyone onto a bus.

Re: Yacht vs. Beach Club

If he/she is taking the family then I would say Beach Club defintely. The Yacht Club is very nice and kind of "attached" by a corridor to the Beach Club, but the atmosphere is different. It's very nice but doesn't seem as family oreiented. They share the big Stormalong Bay Pool area, but Beach Club has Beaches and Cream (an ice cream palor w/ burgers, etc,) an arcade, volleyball, rocking chairs, a little beach type area, and the kid's club/babysitting area is there too. Yacht Club (to me) seems a little more proper....I'd love to stay there too soon, but for a family with younger ones..I'd recommend Beach Club.
