Rainforest cafe' question.

We have never been to Disney, but we want to visit the Rainforest cafe'

1. Is it a good idea to get PS?
2. Would it be a cost savings to get the dining certificates? If so, which one?

Thanks

Re: Rainforest cafe' question.

Just got back from Disney, and did eat at the Rainforest. You cannot get PS's. Although, when we got there they had some sort of special going, and if you would sign up for $15 they would have seated us in 30 minutes. We chose to wait 2 hours, since our plans were to eat later anyway.
We had gift certificates, that is why we did eat there. Food was good!! Service was not that great. I really think it's because they are just sooooo busy. Anyway did have a good meal!!! JOANN Oh, we did eat at the one at Downtown Disney.

RFC has Safari Club memberships.

When you enroll, you pay the fee once and the membership is in effect 'til . . . whenever! I think that it is a fabulous club if you plan to visit any RFC more than once. You receive a $10 dining certificate with your membership card. And, the card offers several perks. When I visited the RFC in DL, the man in front of me was told that he had a two hour wait. When I presented my Safari Club card, my group was seated within 10 mins.! I have had short waits at the RFCs in WDW, too. Also, they send members $5 dining certificates twice a year (birthday and anniversary dates, for me), every year. Oh, another perk is I receive a free appetizer each time I dine in. I think it is well worth it!

The only negative thing I can think of is that you are only able to utilize one perk at each visit. For instance, no free appetizer if you use one of the free dining certificates mailed to you.

Here's a direct link if you'd like to check out the club:

Re: Rainforest cafe' question.

Just FYI, when we were there a few weeks ago we ate at the Rainforest with a PS. I called a few weeks ahead and set it up with all my other PS's. No problem.

Re: Rainforest cafe' question.

The RFC at dtd does not accept PS, but the one in AK does, go figure. I think it has something to do with it actually being in the ak park.
If you decide to go to one, avoid the dtd one! Since most people are out shopping at dtd, the waits are up to 2 hours as Joann said, I had to wait about an hour myself.
The food wasn't as good that day, but then that location is always busy.
The next day I closed down AK and got a table in 10 min at that location, food was better and it was not crowded as everyone just leaves AK when they're done.
As for the Safari club, it's a good idea and I would get one if it wasn't for the fact that Cm's already get a discount on RFC food and merchandise. Still I know you can use the discounts at any other chain in that brand: Landry's, Joes Crab shack, and some others. So with that in mind its actually not too shabby, just sign up BEFORE you get a table, I think that would really help. You can do that in the giftshop right out front.

That's wasn't true for me. I got my anniversary certificate just the other day, and we have a RFC near us, so when my DD and I had a good excuse to go to the mall, we stopped in. Not only did we get a free appetizer, we also used the $5 certicate. Our bill was for $13, when it would have been $27.

They don't expire as long as you use it at least once a year, and there are other restaurants you can use it at. I don't remember the others, sorry. Landry's? Fulton's? Something like those, seafood restaurants.

The instant seating (with the card) is so nice!!

Re: Rainforest cafe' question.

We have never eaten at RFC at DW but ate at one in Nashville when we went to the Music City Bowl (War Eagle Down South Tigger!) The wait was awful and the food ok. Totally overpriced. But we loved the atmosphere and really didn't regret going.

Re: Rainforest cafe' question.

We ate at the RFC in Downtown Disney in March, and several places on internet said that you could not make PS, but according to www.tourguidemike.com, it said you could by calling RFC DTD dirrect. I did a month in advance, and did get a PS.

Re: Rainforest cafe' question.

We have eaten at the Rainforest in DtD several times. The wait can get long, but it's not too bad. - plenty of stuff to do while wiating. We like the food (although Planet Hollywood at DtD in our fave eating place there).

Re: Rainforest cafe' question.

I guess I'm in the minority-I found RFC to be an over-priced tourist trap not worth my time and money. I will never go again.

Re: Rainforest cafe' question.

Well we used to always make it a must do when we went to Disney but this year we don't plan to go here. The last time the food was soso and the service was awful. BUT I would say if you have never been it would be really fun just for the atmosphere. Now i have been to the one in AK for lunch and drinks and I really enjoyed that time. I think we did call ahead or something for seating. I know we didn't wait long but then again it was september.
