Priority Seating Reservations
I'm sure there are already threads with the answer to my question, however, I cannot find them.:o
Can someone tell me how to make Priority Reservations for Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary? Thanks in advance for your help!

Any priority reservation can be made by calling (407)-WDW-DINE, or if you are a member of the Disney Club, you can call 1-800-933-3975 (I think that is right). Just call up, tell them the restaurant and the date and time, and you make the Priority Seating. You can make a PS on any restaurant in WDW up to sixty days in advance. Some restaurants are even further out (Hoop De Doo Review, Victoria & Alberts), but most you and I would eat at are 60 days.
Let us know how difficult it was to get a PS for Chef Mickey's.

Difficult!! However, I have waited too long to make this reservation given the fact that we are going to WDW on Aug. 1 and wanted a breakfast reservation for the morning of Aug. 2.
The only opening during the time we are there (4 days) is an 11:15 am on Aug. 2:wow: Reservations did suggest however that since we are staying on property, the check-in holds a certain number of reservations per day for guests of the hotel only and that I should try that avenue during our check-in. Obviously, procrastination does not pay off when attempting to make Disney dining reservations!! ![]()

Yah, most restaurants you can get the day before, but character breakfasts are a little more difficult. I would check the day you arrive at the restaurant itself, and they will most likely have openings. You could also go down and just wait, but get there as early as you can. If you arrive at opening, or shortly thereafter, you shouldn't have to wait.

If it doesn't work out for the character breakfast I just got a PS for the ice cream character social at the Garden Grill at Epcot for Aug. 2. It is at 3 daily.

Hurry and call for the pricess breakfast in Epcot. (see detail on front page news) They started making reservation on the 16th and I snagged a lovely 8:30am ressie for 10/05. The lady on the phone suggested that people really didn't know about it. I had my choice of times and day to go. It still is new and was just announced and when the over-flow from Cindy's catches on it may get difficult to grab one. You never know, it may not be there next time and you could always say you were one of the people who got to try it. LOL...Do try and go to Chef Mickey's though. My daughter and I love it there. We go twice. We go for dinner on our first night and again for breakfast. It's the best way to start off the vacation! Mickey's right. If you go at opening you shoud be seated fairly quick. It's that 9:30 to 10am that's a bugger. Try it, it can't hurt. Good luck and enjoy your trip!:):)

How far in advance
Can anyone advise which Character breakfast/lunches are the best; which are 'easier' to get ressies for and how far in advance should I book.
Loads of questions here, as I cam calling internationally how long will the call take and whats the best time to call! Are there ever times when ressies would not be essential, I am visiting between 21 June and 5th July 2003. And last but not least I have been told previously that, if staying offsite, 4th July at MK is a no-no and waste of time even attempting to get in. Is it possible to get ressies way in advance for this (and how early should we be at the park to get in) |

babybelle,
I'll do a cop out on your first question... We've enjoyed every Character meal that we've ever attended. If you are interested in seeing certain characters, that might be how you make your choice. Most of them are either Mickey & Friends or Pooh & Friends, but there are some off-the-beaten path possibilities. For character meals, I like to book early. Check out this site: pscalculator.net. It allows you to enter the dates that you want to make PS for and will tell you when you can call. The printed report even gives you spaces to write stuff down and the phone numbers to call. Generally, it's between 60-120 days prior to the day you want. Generally we call during the late morning (for us!) on a Saturday or Sunday and we make as many of the PS for our trip as we can. With holding time included, it normally takes us about 15 minutes. Since you are going in summer, personally, I would definitely make PS for all the meals that you have to do. If you are willing to eat at "off" times, you might be able to go without PS. For your July 4th question, I don't think WDW ever changes the PS calling times based on certain days. Personally, I'd avoid the parks on the 4th, but if I were going to go, I'd get there extremely early. Bruce

babybelle,
I also haven't had a bad experience at any of the character meals I've been to. Some of the "easier" reservations to get would be at Hollywood and Vine in the Disney-MGM Studios (they serve breakfast and lunch with the characters), Ohana's Character Breakfast at the Polynesian and Cape May Character Breakfast at the Beach Club. All three of those locations can be booked 120 days in advance. I think the best time to get though to make seating arrangements would be around 7:30am (Orlando time) after the daily Cinderella rush and before the travel agencies open and start calling in. I would think you would get right through to someone without any wait at that time. You can't reserve your way into the parks on the 4th of July and more than likely the Magic Kingdom will close to capacity on that day. If you want to brave the crowds get there early. Valerie |
