Lunch or Dinner at the Castle?

I hear people talk quite a bit about the much-coveted Princess Breakfast at the Castle in MK...But does anyone know if they serve lunch or dinner, and if those meals are character-free? The character meals are things we rather prefer to avoid, but we'd LOVE to eat in the Castle!

Re: Lunch or Dinner at the Castle?

They do serve all meals, but only have the characters at breakfast. AllEars only gave it a rating of "fair", that makes me a little leary of the place.

Re: Lunch or Dinner at the Castle?

We had lunch in the castle in May. We did see Cinderella and another princess in the waiting area and around the castle but they did not visit our table during our meal. Our meal was very good and the atmosphere was great.

Re: Lunch or Dinner at the Castle?

We ate dinner there with DH, DS(14) and it was fantastic. Our DS still raves about his lamb and has asked to return on our next trip 12/26-12/31/04. I had Mussles for appetizer and chicken for dinner, DH had wonderful Prime rib and DS has lamb cooked for 4 hours in Cabernet sauce! We exited right as Wishes started and got an unexpected fantastic view on the left ramp of the castle(CM sent us out that way because they close Fantasyland while Wishes is going on and you usually have to wait in the restaurant waiting area on first floor-CM error gave us a great view!).

My wife and I make our PS's for the last possible seating so we can watch the fireworks from inside the castle! It is soooo cool!

Re: Lunch or Dinner at the Castle?

We always make PS reservations for the castle at lunch. There are no characters upstairs. Downstairs, last summer, Beauty and the Beast characters where there. The food is wonderful. Give it a try.

Re: Lunch or Dinner at the Castle?

Wow! Sounds great!! Thanks for the tips re: seeing the fireworks. We'll definitely be trying it next time.

Does anyone know if there is the same kind of PS mayhem for the non-Princess meals? Or are they as easy to get as other non-character meals? Thanks!

Re: Lunch or Dinner at the Castle?

So far as I know - no CRT craziness. We were just walk-ins for lunch last year and had no trouble getting a table. (It was in January, so it was a quiet time).

Re: Lunch or Dinner at the Castle?

We've done dinner there two years in a row. LOVE it. The food has been great, and last year we accidentally got perfect seating for a perfect view of the fireworks. It was spectacular! I would recommend making PSs in advance though as about a month or two away the slots have been filled up when I've tried calling. We get in, but there isn't much left to choose from. In fact, we wound up with dinner the first time because I'd been trying for lunch but there was no lunch and only one dinner available during our roughly 1 week stay (party of 3 adults).

Re: Lunch or Dinner at the Castle?

Amneris, in what time of year did you need to get PSs a month before? --And thanks for the good word!

Glad to hear that walk-ins are available in January, llama !

We're looking at a trip in May of 2005 (to take advantage of both the 50th anniversary carry-over from DL, and to see all those new rides!). Anyone have a sense of how hard it is to get PSs that time of year? Thanks!

Re: Lunch or Dinner at the Castle?

We've eaten lunch there several times in May (very yummy, BTW!!) and always made our PS from home without any problem getting the time we wanted.

Re: Lunch or Dinner at the Castle?

TrilliumB,
Have eaten many times at CRT and always a great meal (dinner only). If you are looking for May 2005, I WOULD do a P.S. It gets full, and with it being a small restuarant, it can be tough to get into (especially during busy times of the season). As others have said, make the resie for as late as you can to take advantage of watching the fire works from inside.... very cool!!!!

Re: Lunch or Dinner at the Castle?

First week of December. I may have called only a month ahead of time. If you call the reg. 3 months in advance and with attendance being so low you will probably be able to chose exactly which day and minute you want to show up! :)

Re: Lunch or Dinner at the Castle?

We ate there in June 2003 for dinner. My wife picked it for our anniversary. Had PS. My 2 sons (6 & 3) loved it and Cinderella was at the front door and no one else waiting to be seated. She spent a lot of time with 2 boys who fell in love with her. During dinner she passed out table on the way to her appearance at the front of the castle for a show and stopped and said hi to both of them by name, I now have 2 sons who want to date Cinderella. After dinner the waiter broght us 2 etched glasses as a gift for our anniversary. Would go back again if given the chance. Food was great.
