Best Restaurants

I'm always looking for new stuff to try when I go to Disney, so I figured I could get some good ideas from you guys. Which restaurants do you love to eat at? (or which do you avoid?...)

Re: Best Restaurants

My faves:

Fulton's Crab House
Rainforest Cafe
Cape May Cafe
O'Hanas
50's Prime Time was good too

The restaurants we don't like:

Crystal Palace (used to like but last time it was VERY, VERY BAD)
The steak & Brewery Place @ the Boardwalk..EVERYTHING is charbroiled even the meatloaf..yuck)
The Luau food...theshow is Ok, but not as good as before and the food isn't the best either.

Re: Best Restaurants

Here are me and my DD's favorties in no certain order:

Chef Mickey's
Crystal Palace
O'hanna's
CRT
LeCellier
Whispering Canyon
Boma
Momma Melrose's
Hollywood and Vine
Breakfastsaurus

The only one I will say that I will NEVER go to again is the Princess Storybook Breakfast in Epcot's Canada. I did not have a very magical experience there. I tried the Brown Derby and even though I enjoyed, I won't be going back. It's more for two adults or a group of adults than for a 30yr ol Mom and her 10yr old DD. The romance and elegance of this beautiful restaurant was lost on us.

Isn't the Princess Breakfast in Norway? Has it moved?

Here are my favourites:

O'hanas
LeCellier
Les Chefs de France
San Angel Inn (mostly for the atmosphere)
Planet Hollywood (excellent cheeseburger)
Cape May Cafe
Biergarten - favourite buffet
Olivia's - sentimental favourite, great "comfort" food

I really liked the Brown Derby, too, but I guess I just wasn't romantic or elegant enough for Dana. (She's right - it's definitely an "adult" restaurant).

Re: Best Restaurants

What are you looking for in a restaurant? Good value, menu variety, characters, upscale setting/gourmet, trying something completely new? There is definitely something for everyone, but I couldn't recommend anything until I know more about what you like.

Whoops! It's Norway. Sorry about that. What was I thinking? It wasn't the company at the Brown Derby for sure. Great time with you guys. I just think we had more fun at O'hanna.

Re: Best Restaurants

Chef Mickey's is a must everytime we go. Kona Cafe or Ohanas is also very high, and Cape May Cafe is good too. Best Value for Fantasmic Package goes to H&V.

Definitely had more fun at O'hana's.
If I could add a footnote here: I think this is the best restaurant for those dining without children, but who still want some Disney fun. Many adults enjoy the character dining, but just as many feel a little uncomfortable in a more "kid like" atmosphere. O'hana's strikes a nice balance of the two.

Re: Best Restaurants

I can't believe that the only person to mention the Portobello Yacht Club at DTD didn't even get the name right. Portobello's is, by far, the most authentic Italian restaurant in WDW. It blows the doors off of Alfredo's in Epcot and it's about 10% less expensive. It is our #1 favorite restaurant. We already have made it a tradition to eat there for dinner on our first evening and to go back once more before we leave.

Other favorites include:
- Marrakesh in Morrocco at Epcot. It's a hidden gem.
- Earl of Sandwich at DTD. Best sandwiches. EVER!
- for simple dining for lunch or a light dinner: The Plaza Restaurant at the end of Main St in MK. Surprisingly, a lot of people have never heard of it.
- 1900 Park Faire for character breakfast. This has become our favorite breakfast. We did it twice last time.

We also liked Ohana's. Definately worth doing, but to us, it would be a bit much to do it frequently. The constant references to "cousins" and all of the birthdays/anniversaries got a little old after a while. A must do if you've never done it before, especially if you can time it to see Wishes from your table.

Re: Best Restaurants

IF you want a good steak, I strongly suggest LeCellier Steakhouse in the Canada Pavillion in the World Showcase.

Re: Best Restaurants

We LOVE O'Hanas, Chef Mickey's (not so much for the food, which I think is edible at best, but the KIDS love it there), Breakfastsaurus, Jiko and 50's Primetime Diner.
