First Thing You Do When You Get To WDW

With all the anticipation of your trip: When getting to the Magic Kingdom what is the "first thing" you want to do or see?

Stare at the Castle. Try not to cry and to swallow the big lump in my throat. Take in all the sights and sounds and smells of Main Street. Be SO GRATEFUL to be back. We used to head straight for Splash Mountain, but over the last few years, we've gravitated to BuzzLightyear and Space Mountain first.

hmmm... first thing is Chef Mickey's the night before...

Then upon entering MK stare at the Castle and pinch myself to ensure it's not a dream!

Re: First Thing You Do When You Get To WDW

The very first thing me and my DD do once we check into our hotel is high-tail it over to the MGM and do RnR as many times as we can. The trip does not officially begin until I hear Steven Tyler do the countdown and I am shot into that first loop at 60mph...

Re: First Thing You Do When You Get To WDW

First thing we do is get our picture taken with as many of the characters who are just inside the entrance on Main Street. They'll usually hang out for 15 to 20 minutes. Once they go back inside we'll head off to whatever part of the park strikes our fancy.

Re: First Thing You Do When You Get To WDW

We do Chef Mickeys on our first night - get lots of character interaction then. Upon entering MK, I just stare - I always get that lump in my throat, especially now since the kids are just jumping out of their skin to get in. We go down Main Street & go left into Adventureland toward Pirates first - that seems to work best for my clan.

Re: First Thing You Do When You Get To WDW

The first night, we'll be arriving late, so hopefully we'll just go to bed, maybe get fast food or room service if the troops are hungry.

And hopefully, if I remember to call in the morning, our first stop will be CRT. We'll spend that whole day in the MK.

Re: First Thing You Do When You Get To WDW

For us, it depends on when we arrive.

Last year, it was DD's first trip, but we arrived late in the afternoon. So the first night we had dinner at DTD at Portobello YC, which is our FAVORITE restaurant. For those of you who know me.. you already knew that.

So, day 1, we HAD to go to MK. We had never been there at the opening before and what a treat it was to see the rope-drop ceremony. DW cried and I must admit, I got a little choked up myself.

Wandering up Main St towards the castle is just a beautiful thing. After not having been there in a number of years, of course the first thing we had to do was take pictures with the Castle backdrop. There's more to this story here: http://www.disneycentral.com/forum/s...4&postcount=31

Then, I like to go to Tomorrowland first.

Re: First Thing You Do When You Get To WDW

The first thing we do is head straight for the castle. On the way if ds sees any characters that he likes we have to stop and get them to sign the prized autograph book. Once we get to the castle doors we have to bring ds up to the door...he knocks on it...and says in his most innocent voice "I want to go into disney world...let me in". It is so sweet.

After being let in the castle doors we head straight over to Peter Pan to either jump in line before it gets crazy or to get a fast pass.

Re: First Thing You Do When You Get To WDW

I just stand at the end of Main Street and soak it all in and let the memories of all the many times that I have seen the same scene flood through my brain. The old 1900's street flowing in to the castle at the end. I have been to MK so many times starting since I was 3 that I just love to take in the image and soak it in. The sights, the sounds, just everything and then I feel my cheeks getting wet and my arm getting yanked off by my 11 year-old DD who is has waited long enough for her overly sentimental mom to get that coming home feeling in her veins and she is ready to make a dead run for tomorrowland and space mountain. Can't say I blame her that was always my favorite at her age too.
