"rehitched" at the Garden Grill

When I called today to make my PS's the lady I spoke with didn't know anything about the "rehitching" ceremonies they do at the Garden Grill at Epcot (she tried to refer me to the wedding planning people!). I went ahead and made my PS assuming I could just tell the CM when we check in that we want to do it...does anyone here know if I should do something different??

Speaking of PS's, I also got a Chef Mickey's Breakfast and Fantasmic Dinner Package at Mama Melrose!!

Re: "rehitched" at the Garden Grill

I got the same answer a couple of weeks ago when I called. They told me that they have a special 'birth certificate' for birthdays at the lunch and dinner. All the characters sing and present you with a certificate. But she didn't know anything about the rehitching!?!?!?! I, too, would be interested if anyone out there know anything about the rehitching ceremony.

Re: "rehitched" at the Garden Grill

Call back and talk to another CM. Even if they don't know about it, have them make a note on the PS. I promise you, the staffers at the Garden Grille know all about it.

How do I know?

I have a certifcate to prove it! (I had similar problems with CMs at WDW DINE)

Re: "rehitched" at the Garden Grill

Just an FYI I have not posted our day at Epcot yet BUT>>> we were suppose to get rehitched at the Garden Grill and I was not told until we got there they DO NOT do it anymore! I was so bummed. The guy that used to be the "preacher" to preform the ceremony told us he was very sad they do not do it anymore but it was due to recent happenings with character interaction.

They announce our anniversary and brought us a cake and that was it.. I had bought the bride and groom ears and everything as a surprise for my DH. I was so sad.

They said it just went into effect that week. Sorry for the bad news.

I agree! I was so looking forward to the surprise that when they said they could not do it anymore I actually cried. My husband was very sweet and said it was the thought that counts and still wore his silly top hat with ears for me!

I figured it had to be linked to the whole Tigger incident.

This is total nonsense. This is typical knee-jerk reaction from the PR nimrods and lawyers that don't know how to manage personalities.

I mean think about it. How many hundreds of thousands, even millions of people have gone to Disney without a single negative interaction with a character? And think of all the great stories. I will never forget the Rowdy's story of the little boy who had just lost his big brother to cancer. He wanted Rowdy, who was Goofy at the time, to sign a balloon for his brother. That way he could let it float up to heaven because Goofy was his brother's favorite. I cry every time I hear that story.

These exceptions then ruin it for the rest of us. Is Disney planning on clamping down on other character interaction?

I'm so angry about this I could spit nails!

Re: "rehitched" at the Garden Grill

These situations infurate me as well!! Why do they have to ruin it for the vast majority of Disney lovers?????

But, thank you inluvwithdisney for the info! You probably saved me some tears myself. I'm not even sure if I want my PS now. What do y'all think??? Is the Ice Cream Social worth it for just the characters that are there? I was really doing it just for the "rehitching". At least I only had a couple days to get excited about it.

Thanks again.

I would maybe do the ice cream social but the lunch was just OK!! I do not think I would pay that price again for lunch. I really was only doing it for the rehitching ceremony too.

Allyson:

Even without the ceremony, I think the ICS is actually quite good. Character interaction is excellent and the Ice Cream is good. A little pricey maybe, but very good.

Honestly, I think they could improve it by offering some variety in the ice cream, but again, you can't beat the character interaction.

Maybe I missed something? what was the problems with characters and the re hitching ceremony. Me and DW did it last year (Oct)m and were re-hitched by our waitress and Chip was out best man. Heres our little after ceremony.

Re: "rehitched" at the Garden Grill

How sad that it isn't being done anymore. My husband and I did it last year with our daughter and son-in-law taking pictures. This year for our anniversary , my daughter took one of our wedding photos and the rehitching photo and put them in a double frame. We were standing in almost the same pose (only as our love grew, so did we, we must really be in love!).

That is the sweetest thing. Nice to see you posting. I havne't seen you about and was wondering where you were. Keep those posts coming.

I can't beleive that they discontinued this. I wonder how many people go there just for the rehitching? Sounds like a $$ loss for the Garden Grill. Matt you need another petition.
