Re: Reinstate the Villain Character Meal!!
Matt--
Signed them both w/comments. It would be nice if they brought back the Villian meal. We tried to book it in October 2001 and when I called to make reservations, was told it was discontinued because too many young children & parents complaining that it scared their child. Well then, keep your little cry-baby whine bag at a another dinner!!! HA HA LOL!! I don't have a boy but I think that Toy Story, Alladin, or Lion King, Jungle Book or anything would be great. It is definately unisex and something everyone would enjoy. Just look at Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. It has the longest lines in Tommorowland, that should tell them something!! Anyway, good luck!

Re: Reinstate the Villain Character Meal!!
What bugs me is that you don't see them shutting down Mission:Space because people complain about getting sick. Why can't they just chalk it up to so people just don't get the villain concept? Why instead did they feel that they needed to cancel it?

Villain Character Meal: http://www.petitiononline.com/VillMeal/petition.html Boy's Character Meal: http://www.petitiononline.com/wdw929/petition.html I think I'm continuing to monitor this in order to achieve a moral victory in light of Disney's kiss-off. ![]()

Re: Reinstate the Villain Character Meal!!
A while back I sent an email to Disney requesting information regarding a character meal for boys. I even asked if their was a meal with the Toy Story characters or the Monsters Inc characters. I gave my phone number in the email and a very nice Cast Member called me to discuss the issue (we played phone tag for a few days so I was very impressed when she did not just give up). She said the issue with the Toy Story or Monsters Inc meal is specifically that Disney does not have the rights to do a character meal with the Pixar characters. They have only been granted the rights to have the characters appear in a meet and greet settings where there is no additional monies being generated from their appearance. I guess if Disney was willing to go halfsies with Pixar on the profit maybe we could have one, but this does not appear to be the case. She also said, that more times than not, boys are not into the sit down formal dinners that the girls seem to love so much. She did suggest Chef Mickeys, the character meal at AK, forgot the name, it has Donald and Crystal Palace for the Winnie the Pooh Characters. She also mentioned that they do have some things that boys did prefer - one being the Family Magic Tour. The story goes that a character has taken something from a villian and those on the tour have to do a scavenger hunt to help get it back to the villian or he will take over MK. Right now I think she said that they were doing Peter Pan and Capt Hook. At the end, the group gets to go to the front of any ride line and ride with a character. This tour is $25 per person. My nephew, who I originally asked about the boy character breakfast, would much rather do a scavenger hunt thing through the park than sit down and have a meal with characters.
I did sign the petitions, though, I would love to get more character meal opportunities, whether they are for boys or girls. ![]() |

Re: Reinstate the Villain Character Meal!!
I'm stunned that Disney is willing to make those types of blanket characterizations about boys and girls. I've seen plenty of little "princesses" at some of these sit-down events who seemed to have ants in their pants and were unable to sit still without being demanding and outright rude.
Kids are kids and their overall behaviors aren't substantially different until they are around 10. I just think this type of talk is nonsense. As for the licensing, both Pixar and Disney need to get off their high horses. Pixar has revitalized Disney's cartoons and Disney put Pixar on the map. It's like the old Reese's Cup commercial with peanut butter vs. chocolate. Anyhoo, thanks for signing the petitions. ![]()

Re: Reinstate the Villain Character Meal!!
Whoa Matt
! You've got a lot of good points but there's something I think everyone is missing. Pixar didn't make any outlandish demands on Disney. In fact, while Disney was floundering around with Brother Bear, Home on the Range, and Treasure Planet, Pixar was saving Disney's financial butts with Toy Story 1 and 2, Monsters, and Nemo (which buried the Matrix in box office, I might add). Disney flat out refused to give Pixar the contract they deserved, and now Disney's paying the price.I'd love to go to the Toy Story or Monsters character breakfasts, if they had them, but the reality is, until Disney gets its stuff together as far as Pixar is concerned, it's not going to happen. P.S. Matt it was really rude of whoever you spoke to to tell you that Disney doesn't respond to unsolicited suggestions. Maybe you should try guest relations on the phone. I always call them after every trip and give them LOTS of "unsolicited suggestions"! ![]()

Re: Reinstate the Villain Character Meal!!
Hey Jenny:
My understanding of the whole Disney/Pixar thing is that it's much more complicated that that and that it boiled down to Eisner and Jobs not seeing eye to eye. What you said was simply a more detailed explanation of my comment "Pixar has revitalized Disney's cartoons." I agree with you 100%, Disney's production studios wouldn't be where they are today without Pixar. However, it WAS Disney that opened the door for Pixar to go from a "cute little indie-film" company, to a company that defined computer generated cartoons. Each side should have been willing to compromise. I've been led to believe that PIXAR did, in fact, make outlandish requests which would have made it a very one-sided contract in favor of PIXAR. This wasn't really a shock based on how Jobs tends to operate. In any case, it boils down to two stubborn idiots unwilling to compromise. As far as the Disney attorney with the attitude, I might follow your suggestion.
