Renovation planned for The Land food court

Michael Bersell, the chef in charge of the kitchen at the Garden Grill in The Land pavilion, revealed the other day during a Food & Wine Festival cooking demonstration that the Sunshine Season Food Fair (food court) will be undergoing an extensive renovation at the beginning of the year. He said the area will be upgraded to what he called "family casual," and that diners will be able to see their food being prepared in sort of a show-kitchen atmosphere. Bersell said plans include a Paninni sandwich station and an area where stir-fry foods will be prepared.

I'm assuming this renovation is in anticipation of larger crowds that will be attracted by the opening of Soarin' Over California later in 2005. Soarin' will use part of the Land Pavilion (where Food Rocks used to be) as the entrance to the attraction.

The Food Fare is one of our family's favourites - but the past few years it's kind of gone downhill. I'll be looking forward to a refurbishment. pannini station - yum!

Oh how sad....I love the chicken fajita stuffed potato. I really like SSFC but my hubby has always hated how we have to stand in four different lines to get our food, since we all cannot agree on the same place!!

A pannini is, basically, a grilled sandwich. Various fillings (salamis, meats, cheeses, relishes, mushrooms, etc), between really good quality breads, which are heated, toasted and "pressed" between iron grills. It looks kind of like a waffle iron. Very yummy!

Wow! That's exciting. I guess the days of the Land being a laid-back, quiet corner are just about over, though...But I can't wait for Soaring over CA!

Does anyone know if the Circle of Life movie is staying amidst all the rehabbing? I finally watched it last December, and I loved it!

Does this mean that the food court will be closed? We are going in Feb. and always make a trip there for lunch. We would hate to miss it.

Wow, a paninni sounds yummy. I never liked the set-up there because you had to wait in several different lines to get what you want.

The chef from the Garden Grill didn't give specific dates, nor did he say the entire food court would be shut down, but I suspect that it will and that there's a very good chance the area will still be under renovation when you're there.

Mmmmm stir fry... my favorite!! I'm excited about the renovation but I hope they keep it as varied as it is now. I like the way you can all go to one place and be able to eat just about anything you want.

Not to alarm you, but the Garden Grill chef did joke that he was looking forward to taking a vacation while the renovations were under way. This could be interpreted to mean the Garden Grill will be closed, too, but I really don't know for sure.
