Re: Mexico restaurant

The one in the pyramid is OK particularly if you want to sit for a while away from the crowds. We actually really like the little cantina just outside of the pyramid. It may offer one of the best food values at EPCOT and if you time it right you get a great view for the Illuminations fireworks.

Re: Mexico restaurant

The cantina is better IMO...I have eaten at both (I'm also a texmex/mexican foodie) and found the San Angel Inn to be a little disappointing.

The cantina has decent food and as GrumpyDad said if you time it right you get a great show!

(you can get as good Mexican food just about anywhere now-a-days I would suggest Restaurant Marrakesh if you are looking for something exotic...if you come up to Philly try Tequilas in center city...I'm kind of hooked on Brazilian BBQ right now going to try out a few places in NYC over the next couple of weeks.)

Re: Mexico restaurant

For really nice Mexican dinner there is a very good resturant in either the Swan or Dolphin that is top notch. The cost is up there a bit, but it is a very nice dining experiance.

I agree that the San Angel Inn food is just average, but for atmosphere you can't beat it.

Yah, we LOVE the theming of the San Angel Inn. You really can't beat sitting in front of a river and a volcano in the jungle, all under that gorgeous, starry, cobalt sky. And their tortilla chips and salsa are DELISH!

Don't forget the Maya restaurant at the CSR for great southwestern food options. Joe

The view would be good, IF THEY DIDN'T HAVE ALL THE UMBRELLAS UP!!
We had perfect seats for Illuminations and everybody had their umbrella up last spring!

Anyway, we like the food at the Cantina. It was pretty good, what we had.

We weren't real impressed with that one in August. Love San Angel (in the pyrmid) though for atmosphere. It can be 105 in the shade with 90% humidity outside & you go in there & it's cool & "night-time" & very relaxing with wonderful music in the background. Food isn't bad, just not "exceptional."

I would have to agree. We have done both. But given the choice again, good food would win for me.

I am sorry but I don't recall a Mexican type of restaurant at either the Swan or Dolphin -

Re: Mexico restaurant

Like the others the atmosphere inside the pyramid is awesome. the cantina food is good but the birds can drive you crazy. I am surprised they haven't carried someone away!

Re: Mexico restaurant

I went and looked it up and.... it is gone! I know it has been several years since I ate there, but I swear there was a very nice Mexican resturant on the first floor of one of these, I think it was the Dolphin.

I may have to find one of our old hotel guides to see if it is listed in there!

Getting much too old,
-harry

Just checked the Dolphin section of the website again, and it looks like Todd English's bluezoo has been added since last I was there. My guess is that is where the Mexican resturant was!
