PrePayment for CRT?
Jen is :
!!!Just got off the phone with a CM at WDW Dine. I was totally unaware that a $10 payment per adult and a $5.00 payment per child was required at the time of the PS for CRT. I have never heard of such a thing. I can fully understand them wanting a credit card number in case of a no-show - but payment? First of all, we're not big credit card users and we plan to pay cash for everything this trip. Secondly, I can't even use my debit card since I noticed yesterday (when I planning to make PS for CRT, but was a day early) it was lost (for who know how long since I never use it, lol) and the bank said it will be 7 days till I receive a replacement. Arggg, VENTING! Anyway, I quick made a CC payment to our only "emergency" card but the payment won't post till later today. I was so not planning on having to pay almost $80 this moring for breakfast in January. Guess I'll have to keep my fingers crossed or will have to change plans. I really wanted this PS for our first full day in WDW. Stu and I have made several ressies over the years for dinner shows and dinner cruises around Manhatten when dinner for 2 was over $300, and NEVER was my card charged, just a number given in case of late cancellation. Hope this experience I had this morning gives the heads up to any other DCer's who may not know this policy. Thanks for listening! Jen

Re: PrePayment for CRT?
This is a new policy for CRT that was instituted over the summer. This policy has been in place for Fantasmic for over a year.
I can't really blame Disney for the policy. CRT is really a small dining room and there are so many people that really want to go see it. Seeing as it's so difficult to get the PS in the first place, folks that simply don't show up end up ruining the possibility for others that would have been willing to keep the committment. I really don't have a problem with this policy, seeing as it's only used for a handful of events.

Re: PrePayment for CRT?
My biggest problem with this policy is that it is not posted on the site under CRT - I which case would have been prepared for this.
AH well, ya live, ya learn Jen

Re: PrePayment for CRT?
Thanks Matt! And I love coming here for the support, too!
BTW - I just read at www.wdw.com under CRT the following: "A credit card will be required, but will not be charged unless the reservation is cancelled within 24 hours or the party is a no show." They should really post the updated policy. Jen

Re: PrePayment for CRT?
I can't blame them either. They said that it's such a small place and so many people want it, and they have to guarantee against no-shows. They also said that it sells out within 10 minutes of the call center opening up every morning.
However, I'd double check that info that they don't charge the card right off...I made my ps's a couple of weeks ago and paid the deposit with my credit card ($10 per adult and $5 per child) and my card has already been charged $30 and it's on my latest bill. |

Re: PrePayment for CRT?
Actually for CRT they have taken that deposit for well over a year at least! They took that for our trip Sept 2003.
In August they started charging full price for the dinner shows when you book them. I think it is the popularity of CRT and the lack of room they have. Look at it this way in January you have 1/2 of it paid for. ![]()

Re: PrePayment for CRT?
How would that work if you had a voucher that you were planning to use? Obviously the voucher is not that good of a deal if you have already paid for half of your meal before going. Anyone had to pay the deposit and tehn used a voucher?

Re: PrePayment for CRT?
Actually, this policy has been in effect since June 9, 2002, so for nearly 30 months. In fact, it was most likely because of this policy that you were able to get the PS in the first place. While I understand your complaint, before this policy took effect, there were Cinderella priority seatings for sale on eBay, and large groups of people who were calling and make a PS, and then giving it to someone else later on. While inconvenient, it is by far the most equitable solution available.
With the voucher, you are still required to pay the deposit, and then when you show up, they will refund they deposit to you when you pay with your voucher.

Re: PrePayment for CRT?
doing the prepayment is worth it in the end, i think. we went to CRT at the beginning of the month. $20 was taken off the bill so the bill amount was smaller. half of it was already paid for. i didn't mind at all with the prepayment. it's the cheapest bill i saw at a restaurant in Disney, that's for sure.
