Making a PS Reservation

Hey guys, I need some help. My family and I are trying to get my in-laws and my husbands brother's family to go with us this next time we head to Disney. We are getting close to the 90 day mark and they still have not made up their minds. I want to push, but I want them to have time to make their decision as well. I am wondering if I can go ahead and make some PS Reservations without having our actual room reservations. This way, I can go ahead and get some things locked in. If it doesn't work out and they decide not go, then I can cancel them, right? I just know that if they do decide to go, it will be the first time ever for my my brother in law's family, that we will want to make sure and show them all the wonderful little extras that Disney has to offer. Any suggestions would be great, Thanks!

Re: Making a PS Reservation

You do not have to stay on disney property to make priority seating reservations. I owuld book all the ones you think you might want. You can always cancel them later. However, usually you can not book them later. Keep in mind, some reservations require a credit card deposit or guarantee. THe CM will let you know the cancellation policy.

Re: Making a PS Reservation

sydmacsmom, that's a good question. It is like making reservations at a restaurant, I would think. I wonder if you even have to be a guest on the property to eat anywhere there. But since I am just guessing I bet they have an answer for you at this number which I have called everytime to make PSs and have never had to wait more than 2 rings and was put on hold only once. In other words, you'll be helped immediately. 1.877.939.3732
Let us know what they said.....

Re: Making a PS Reservation

If I were you I would make any PSs that I think we need for the largest group. You can always call back later and drop what you don't need. You do not have to have a WDW resort booked to make PSs, you will be asked what resort you are staying at but all you have to do is say you don't know yet. They ask just so everything can be linked together and for their own information.

Good luck~~what restaurants are you looking at?

Re: Making a PS Reservation

Many of our WDW trips have had us staying in rental homes and we still make PS's at all our favorite restaurants, including the resorts. (that's how we decided which resorts we wanted to stay in, by visiting their restaurants) We just tell them we're staying off property when making the PS. One has nothing to do with the other.

Re: Making a PS Reservation

Hey guys, thanks for all the input. I have made a PS before and they did ask what resort I would be staying at, so.... somehow I thought that one might be tied to the other. Anyway, we are looking at CRT and CM. I know that CRT is a long shot and probably even more so with a group for nine, but who knows. The other thing that we are hoping for is the Grand Gatherings Fireworks cruise, but I know that we will have to wait for that one because you have to be a resort guest and you have to be registered with Disney as a Grand Gatherings group.

Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it!

Keep in mind with the PS at CRT you have to pay a $10 deposit ofr each adult and a $5 dollar one for each child (ages 3-11) in order to reserve or get a seating. I wouldn't book that one for the entire group...just for who you know is going.

Dana,
If I had to cancel a portion of the reservation or even all of it, wouldn't I get that money back as long as I cancelled by the deadline, I think that it said 48 hours?

Yes, you would get it back. I just didn't want to see you shelling out all that money if you werent' sure they were coming. Nine people's deposit is a hefty sum. Whatever you decide, make sure to bring your statement to the breakfast proving you paid the deposit. I had an unfortunate incident where they said I didn't pay a deposit and I did, but had no statement to back it up...very annoying actually.

Re: Making a PS Reservation

Wow, I hope Disney made it right. When we went this past Feb. we had a reservation at CRT and they never actually charged our cards for the deposit. It was really strange, I kept looking for the charge, but it never appeared. So when we actually ate there, we were then charged the entire amount.

Thanks for the heads up, I will definitely bring the statement with me if we are charged.
