I haven't been there yet, but I have a PS for December.

It tends to get mixed reviews. It's a little unusual in that it's a tiny bit more upscale than any other eatery in the MK. When the food is good (which seems to be more the rule) it's very good, but when it misses the mark, it's disappointing.

Here are the reviews from DC ReviewCentral: http://www.disneycentral.com/cgi-bin...oduct-sku=tony

I've heard more good about it than bad. That's why I'm going.

My family was not at all impressed with it. The kids hated the spaghetti, said the sauce was "yukky". Come on, how do you screw up spaghetti. My dinner was mediocre and we were seated outside where our lukewarm food got colder. I will never eat there again!

Tony's is on our must-do each year. Great atmosphere, food & service.

If you had to decide between Tony's and Crystal Palace for dinner before mvmcp, you would choose... ?

Re: Tony's in MK

IMO, Tony's is an Epcot type restaurant tucked away in the MK. Those types of situations tend to yield varying reviews.

I'd be willing to bet that one of the key components to inconsistency at Tony's has to do with who's the head chef for the night. The menu looks terrific and I've heard so many good things about it. However, good food, when not properly prepared, can be "yukky."

Personally, I'm looking forward to it.

Before MVMCP, we're doing CP. We're doing Tony's the following evening.

CP is more of a fun atmosphere and I'm sure all of the characters will be in the "Christmas spirit." I think, just for taking advantage of the mood, CP is a better choice, particularly if you have young kids.

As for me, I'm not impressed with any of Disney's Italian restaurants. Being Italian, I am overly critical of Italian food that wasnt made by my father.
I would pick CP any day over Tony's.

I know it's not Disney exactly, but have you tried Portobello Yacht Club?

Being from Boston, where we have some of the best Italian eateries anywhere, we are VERY particular about authentic Italian food. Portobello is terrific.

With that, I agree with you. I think Alfredo's is over-priced and the quality of the food is only average.

Every visit to the Magic Kingdom, we look at Tony's menu and we never seem to find anything appealing to us. So we have never eaten there.

That's exactly what my kids said! We were definitly underwhelmed by Tony's. Nice atmosphere, mediocre food. We won't go there again, either.

Re: Tony's in MK

Tony's food is ok, portions have a good size, it can be loud at times and I think they try to make this rest. a bit more scaled up that the rest at MK. Overall, I'll say it is OK, not great, not bad, just OK.

However, if you go to Tony's, remember that you are at THE MAGIC KINGDOM!!! So that right there has to make this restaurant better than it actually is!!!

Ciao,
Alfredo

Re: Tony's in MK

We had a PS for Tony's and all exited to be sitting outside to eat our dinner. The menu was very disappointing...not many choices. My DH and DS ate their meals, I just picked. I got some sort of chicken dish, the chicken was still on the bone, put on top of peppers and some sort of grit type stuff that looked like chicken fat cooked. We all decided not to go back again.

I was thinking of trying the Plaza Restaurant (not the counter service) on our next trip.

Re: Tony's in MK

I'd agree with the mediocre reviews for Tony's. That was the general impression I received from park guests when I was a CP cast member and from the two times I have ate there. The service and atmosphere are both good if not great, but the food is just not very good.

If you are looking for sit down, go with any of the others in MK (Cinderella's, Liberty, or CP) or just hop on the monorail and hit a restaurant in the Poly, GF, or Contemporary.

Re: Tony's in MK

I have to agree with most the post here.... I took my DGD there...... Her favorite thing to eat is spaghetti.... and she said the same thing... not only that the food was not even luke warm it was cold... I said something to our waitress.... she said ok... left the table and never came back.... I had to ask one of the waiters there to even get our check... so needless to say.... I did not leave her a tip... and I believe in tips.... my mother in law raised 6 children on a waitress salary..... so I almost always leave a tip....This was in May of 2004.... I really do not think that has anything to do with the Chef of the day... Food being cold and no service... We will not go back either....ºoºJudy
