Icon12 Defending the honor of the WDW turkey leg...

Doggone-it,, I have been lurking around the Restaurants section of the forum, and I have read yet another mean-spirited comment about the famous WDW turkey leg! Let me just state for the record that the turkey leg is my absolute favorite treat at WDW, and with good reason: Each one can feed a family of four for a month, and when you are done, you can dry the bones and make a musical instrument out of them. In Frontierland, I once saw a turkey leg jump into the water to save a little child who had fallen off a keelboat. And on Hollywood Boulevard, a turkey leg stopped right smack dab in the middle of the street to sign autographs for each and every child who wanted one. You can find turkey legs every afternoon in the TTC parking lot, helping families figure out which white rental car is theirs. And who doesn't appreciate the hard-working turkey leg who makes those fabulous balloon animals for all the babies on Main Street? Huh? What about him? And most recently, we were in line for Space Mountain behind a 7-year-old kid who was just too scared to get on the ride. His family was no help, and he was so sad. Well, you guessed it -- a WDW turkey leg came to the boy's rescue! The leg gamely rode the coaster with the boy, who never would have had the courage to go it alone.
So there... now who wants to malign the leg?

Re: Defending the honor of the WDW turkey leg...

I once saw a helpful turkey leg lend a guy money for lunch when he lost his wallet. I love the helpful turkey leg, but I can't eat them. I feel like I am killing a friend. It's not that the smell make my stomach turn or that my one and only time I ate one it made me sick and gave me the "runs", it's because it just not right to eat something that does good deeds like the mighty turkey leg...lol this is silly..lololol love it.

Thanks for the insight.

My Dh also gets one everytime we go. He has to have one. It's just like a ride you can't miss or a show you need to see. They are a very important part of WDW.

Re: Defending the honor of the WDW turkey leg...

Ah, but there is a dark side to them as well. If you should ever be around Fantasyland at night you can sometimes find them plotting and smoking mesquite along with the dolls from IASW. And I have heard that bands of them troll about the tunnels under WDW looking for unsuspecting pirates. Also there have been more then one occasion when a drunk turky leg has made rude comments about the skinny human legs on some poor soul.

Beware the jabberwacky and the turky leg says I !

Re: Defending the honor of the WDW turkey leg...

I always wondered what evil lurked inside the parks at night...! But I am sure that the turkey legs accused of smoking mesquite are JUVENILES, who will one day grow out of their youthful ways and become the heroes they are meant to be! In fact, I just read some research in the New England Journal of Medicine that this juvenile prankishness is actually the secret ingredient that gives adult turkey legs their succulent flavor and heroic ways.

Yes! They smell great, and I once even saw a lady in Paris dab a bit of WDW eau de turkey behind each ear...
