Icon5 Whispering Canyon lunch or dinner

Help! Can anyone tell me if the Whispering Canyon is just as much fun for lunch as it is at dinner? My DS 15th birthday is 1/17/05 and he wants to go to the Whispering Canyon. My only problem is, as a surprise I booked the Illuminations birthday cruise for him and we have to be at the boardwalk at 8:15. I thought that if we could do lunch at the Whispering Canyon we could then eat dinner at Epcot in the UK, (fish n' chips) and then walk over to the boardwalk and and enjoy until it is time to leave for our cruise. I just do not want to deprive him of a great experience at the Canyon. He is already upset enough because his first choice was 50's Prime Time which is closing for rehab on his birthday. We are going there Sunday instead. Thanks for all your help you great and knowledgable DC'ers.

Whispering Canyon is fun any time of the day. You will get the same fun at lunch prices. They offer lunch from noon to 3pm and it costs $17 per adult and 7 per child. I would suggest a later dinner...this food is really filling! Have fun.

Re: Whispering Canyon lunch or dinner

We had a late lunch there our last trip and it was still fun. It was not as crowded so there is not as much activity but in some ways that was a blessing. The place is darn loud when it is full!!

Re: Whispering Canyon lunch or dinner

Did they still do the pony races? My 4-year-old son just loves the pony races. Other than that I guess we can get away with lunch. I just want to make sure that we make our PS at for our Illuminations cruise or other wise I would still go for supper.
Thanks everyone for all of your helpful suggestions.

They didn't while I was there. Again, since it was less crowded, I think it is a bit toned down but still fun. I am sure if we asked to do the pony ride, they would have.

Re: Whispering Canyon lunch or dinner

Thanks Skwak, maybe we will bite the bullet and do an early dinner then. My son just loves the pony race and my older two sons loved watching their father do the buttercup dance. Thanks again for all of the info!!
