I'd have to go with Markypooh and agree that Big Thunder is awesome at night. Splash Mountain is great too.

I love riding the outside rides at night. My favorites would have to be Splash Mountain, when you are at the crest of the hill, you can see all of the Magic Kingdom. My other would be Tower of Terror, when they open the doors and it is dark outside, it makes it a much better ride!

Yeah, TZTOT and Splash Mountain are the best at night.

For total effect, though, aim for the last entry into the Haunted Mansion. The groups are usually very small - one time it was just my friend and I for the midnight ride (last day of extended hours back in 1995 - I think).

We were actually concerned that they had closed the ride up, but the trash cans weren't blocking the way and the lights were on (man, they seem dim at midnight). After a few minutes, the door opened and the CM looked at us and said "Our last two victims, how wonderful. I'm guessing that nobody knows you're here.". I love camp, and the CMs all of the way through were hysterical. "You know that nobody is going to be able to hear you scream?";"Our friends love creatures of the night like yourself, especially for dinner..." and "Tsk tsk. Two young lads taken in their prime, I mean, enjoy your visit to the Haunted Mansion".

At the exit, the CM was missing, or so we thought. She waited at the near edge of the wall so that we couldn't see her. As we passed, she waited for one car or so and hopped on the belt. We stepped off, and she said "Are you sure you don't want to...stay awhile?" accentuating the ARE in order to surprise us.

It was a lot of fun - especially considering HM is my favourite attraction. It was nicely topped off by a misty stroll through a deserted Adventureland on our way to Main Street - again, way too cool. Never forget it.

I agree with the majority of you that Big Thunder Mountain is the best ride at night. Another great ride (For the view) is the Astro Orbiter. Its beautiful seeing all the lights around Tomorrowland!

Buzz- that is so cool!
The best experience I have ever had at night in the MK was during MVMCP a few years ago. It was late, very late and almost all of the families had left. DH and I were with some friend that were visiting at the same time. We were (almost) the only people left in frontierland. We rode Splash and Thunder so many times! We were skipping and jumping and running through the que areas, because there was no one around. And..there is nothing like the waiting areas for these rides at night. :)
