CRT v. 'Ohanas

OK now that I know that the Tuesday that we are open MK will be open late (maybe as late as 1AM), we will be leaving Epcot and heading over to MK. I planned on eating dinner at 'Ohanas, but now we are going to be booking the new Meal Plan. Now that all the meals are pre-paid I have thoughts of doing CRT.

SOOOOOOOOOOO....

The Pro's of CRT: Seeing the castle, more bang for the buck
The Pro's of 'Ohanas: A garunteed great menu

I have heard that the food at CRT isn't real good, has anyone had dinner at CRT? Also, are the characters there at night?

Re: CRT v. 'Ohanas

Have heard mixed reviews about the food in the evening, but I know the characters are only there at breakfast. But you do have the atmosphere of being in the castle, especially if you're lucky enough to get a window seat!

Disneyguy ~ I will be doing both CRT and Ohanna in January, so I don't have anything thing to offer you right now, but I can give you a bit of advice when I get back. But, but then, will it be to late to do the PS's?

Well, my first inclination is to say yes it will be too late, but I can make 2 PS's, and then cancel one. I think that is what I will do. I am going during President's Day week so it will be a little on the busy side.

I would still love to hear about people's expiriences about dinner dining at CRT.

For dinner? I would definately go with O'hanna. For breakfast, just the opposite.

Re: CRT v. 'Ohanas

I just booked PS for CRT dinner. I'll let you know how it is in January. The Unofficial Guide says that CRT has greatly improved it's menu in the past few months, finally giving MK a decent full service restaraunt.

I would have to go with 'Ohana. It is so close to MK that the travel time would not be a problem.

Definately go to O'hanna then. While I am certain that the CRT dinner has improved, it's still cannot be as good as the guaranteed great meal you will get at O'hanna's. CRT is also a bit on the pricey side in my eyes. I'd rather put my money on a sure thing and maybe try CRT for lunch one day and gamble on a lower priced meal. If the lunch is good, then book it for dinner next trip.

Re: CRT v. 'Ohanas

We ate at 'Ohana for their character breakfast. It waas pretty good and the pineapple/conconut bread is do die for! Since DD wanted to see Mickey, we couldn't get a PS for Chef Mickey's on the day we wanted so the CM suggested 'Ohana as an alternative since they also had Mickey too. The breakfast is served family style (which is better than a buffet IMO) and the food is hot and fresh when it comes to your table. Stnadard breakfast fare. I found out as we left that sausage gravy can be requested for the biscuits. We didn't know that and I looked at the menu as we were leaving. I don't know why it got 2 1/2 stars by some of the travel guides, we thought the food was just fine. On top of that, DD did get to meet Mickey, Chip, Dale, and Goofy and got to hold Mickey's hand during the character parade (with music from "The Lion King.") On our next trip, we will definitely eat there for dinner!

DD wasn't into meeting the princesses or Cinderella. Besides, she's 3 and all she could talk about was Mickey Mouse the whole trip.

With the new meal packages, menu prices aren't really a consideration anymore. That's how DW & I changed our plans from a week of Counter Service meals to one full service resteraunt per day (a first for us on our tight budget).

That is the way that it is for me. That is why CRT is even under consideration.

Re: CRT v. 'Ohanas

HI Disneyguy

I'm also visiting in January and have made reservations at CRT. I think with the new meal plan it is worth a try. I also made reservations at Boma, O'hanas and Brown Derby. Excluding Epcot, I don't think there are many good restaurants besides these at this price range. Where else are you planning to eat. Do you think it is neccesary to book the fantasmic/dinner package in January. I hate the idea of eating at the Brown Derby at 4:00pm!!!!
