Need suggestions for dining - character or other

I'm now entering the dining portion of planning for our upcoming trip, and would like some input/advice on our choices.

We will have the meal plan for the first 4 full days at the parks, then we are on our own.

This is what I have planned so far:

Wednesday night - dinner at O'Hana'

Thursday - EPCOT (extra magic hours PM)
Lunch - counter service
back to hotel for rest/swim
Dinner - princess dinner in Norway

Friday - Typhoon Lagoon
Lunch - counter service
Dinner - ????

Saturday - Hang out at hotel
Lunch - food court?
Dinner - ???????????

Sunday - MGM (extra magic hour PM)
lunch - counter
Dinner - Mamma Melroses

(One of the previous dinners will not be included on the meal plan)

From here on, we will be paying for all meals....

Monday - Blizzard Beach

Tuesday - Animal Kingdom

Wednesday - Resort

Thursday - Magic Kingdom
B - CRT

Friday - resort

Saturday - Universal Studios

Sunday - Fly home

Please give me any and all suggestions!

Thanks!
Lisa

Re: Need suggestions for dining - character or other

For your waterpark day, you could have dinner at O'hanna's. I love that place as do many people here on DC. Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge is also a fun dinner. You can get there by taking the water launch from MK, so make that a meal for an MK day. The Crystal Palace and Liberty Tree Tavern are excellent character meals inside the MK. At Animal Kingdom, I suggest going to Donald's Breakfastsaurus and maybe trying Rainforest CAfe. From the AK you are not to far from heading over the the AKL. You could try Boma which is a fabulous meal. At Epcot, LeCellier is the only one I have experience with, but it was awesome. The Rose and Crown is another popular favorite with DC members. 1900 Park Fare is a great meal for breakfast or dinner with characters. I like that you are doing MOmma's. I don't think that place gets a fair shake...I loved it.

Re: Need suggestions for dining - character or other

OK for atleast two or your Resort days, or the water park day, I would do at DTD. DTD has Planet Hollywood and then I cannot believe I just forgot the name, but it is at AK too. LOL *embarassed* Earl of Sandwhich is also at DTD, but is a counter-service, but is wonderful. For the rest of your Resort days what about going to another resort? You can make a PS, and if you don't feel like going over to another resort then you can do the food court. Some great resort dining is Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, Jiko or Boma at AKL, Whispering Canyon at WL. It sounds like you should book a lot of PS's for a resort dining, if you intend on doing sit-downs.

Would that be the Rainforest Cafe, disneyguy? There is one in DTD and AK.

Where are you staying?

On Friday, Chef Mickey's for dinner would be cool. Assuming you have a park hopper, then you could go hang at MK and see SpectroMagic and/or Wishes!

Saturday, go shopping at DTD and have dinner at Portobello! It's our FAVORITE restaurant in all of Disney.

Re: Need suggestions for dining - character or other

'Ohana!!
Not everyone ends up sharing my opinion, naturally , but 'Ohana is my favorite place to eat on WDW property! I think the food is absolutely delicious, I love the atmosphere, and plus it gives me an excuse to visit the Poly which is my fave resort!

Other recommendations...Chef Mickey's for breakfast, and if you are ever in the area of the Dolphin, get a Heath milkshake at the Dolphin Cafe! Mmmm

This was just changed to a princess meal all day and evening starting in April. The food will basically be the same type of authentic Norwegian cuisine for adults and traditional American fare for the children but it will be served family style and the princesses will be there. All meals will require a credit card guarantee.

Re: Need suggestions for dining - character or other

Some of the places we like to visit each trip are Chef Mickey's, ESPN, 'Ohana (which you have), The Plaza Restaurant at MK (not the Plaza Pavilion fast food place), Earl of Sandwich at DTD, and 50's PrimeTime. Have you thought about going to a dinner show? The Hoop Dee Doo is always fun.

Re: Need suggestions for dining - character or other

We ate at the Rainforest Cafe after spending the day at TL, it was great and the kids will love it!!!

Now what ages are your kids? boy, girl?

Personally, I loved dinner at the Crystal Palace @ MK
Garden Grill @ EPcot
1900 Park Fair @ Grand Floridian (The BEST, IMO!)
Hollywood & Vine at MGM (we got the Fantasmic Dinner Package, which gives you special VIP seating and early entrance, no waiting on line!!!)

Hope that helps!
