Graduation celebration
I am new here (well, new at posting things). My name is Kyle. I'm a senior at University of Montevallo (a small college close to Birmingham, Alabama) about to graduate with a BBA in Management in May. As of right now I don't know of my plans immediately following (as far as a job). If you would like to assist in that endeavor, I would be more than glad to let you.
Now for the trip info... As for very immediate plans, I'll be headed down to the World after I graduate!!! Graduation is on May 7th; pure enjoyment begins May 8. I know they offer extras for people who are celebrating birthdays and marriages (buttons, extra attention from CMs, various freebies, etc.). Would anybody happen to know if they offer anything to people who are celebrating an event such as graduation? Also, we're also gonna try to do some stuff we haven't on previous trips. We've got tickets to Cirque already (haven't been there) and also we're thinking about having lunch or dinner at Biergarten. Other restaurants being pondered include Liberty Tree, Nine Dragons, and Whispering Canyon. Would lunch or dinner be more preferable? Would anybody have an opinion on those places? Or have some suggestions on their own? Thanks, Kyle

Re: Graduation celebration
Hey Kyle! Welcome to DC! :)
Congrats on your upcoming graduation! You'll be there around the time of Grad Nites.. I'll try to find the exact dates. If you're there on a Grad Nite day, they'd probably have plenty of graduation stuff in the parks you could buy to remember your trip. Ohhh Cirque du Soleil... I'm so jealous... I always wanted to see that. Lucky! :) As far as restaurants go, Biergarten is one of my family's favorites. We usually hit it for lunch because it tends to be not as crowded. I've never been to your other 3 choices, but I've heard great things about Whispering Canyon. Have you ever tried 50's Prime Time in MGM? One of my favorites! Hope some of that helps! Welcome again! :)

Re: Graduation celebration
Hi Kyle - Welcome!!
DC is the BEST place to get all your questions answered about WDW. The Biergarten is one of our favorites as well - there aren't many places where you can dance the chicken dance while drinking LARGE steins of beer! All the places you listed are very good - In Epcot, we usually have our bigger fancier meal at lunch because it is much cheaper (and the menus aren't usually that different).

Re: Graduation celebration
We have now changed our ticket situation. We previously had the Dream Maker Package, with UPH passes (we purchased the package Dec. 30 - just under the wire
We now have called and switched to the MYW Dining package. We've done calculations with some fairly conservative numbers (for lunch and dinner on each day we're there) and we came to the conclusion it would save us a pretty good amount (again, conservative numbers were used). So I'm sure that when we get down there, the amount will fluctuate. I think one of the biggest impacts would be psychological - instead of having to hand your credit card at the restaurant or experiencing forking over a ton of cash at each stop, that's already taken care of, so you wouldn't have to have that playing on your mind. I'm still welcoming any recommendations to restaurants, as now we've got an incentive to go to them! Thanks

Re: Graduation celebration
Weclome Kyle! I would honestly skip nin dragons. It's over-priced so-so chinese food that is no better than a corner place in your home town. Biergarten is excellent and definately a good time for all. I highly reccomend, LeCellier in Epcot's Canada, Whispering Canyon at the WL, O'hanna's at the Polynesian, and Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. All excellent meals and with their own flair.

Re: Graduation celebration
Congratulations!!
My favorites are: Crystal Palace (great variety and lots of desserts); Kona Cafe (GREAT DESSERTS); Liberty Tree Tavern (non-stop food - all you can eat) and the Sci-Fi (a good time if you get a good server like we did). Have a great time!! ![]()
