Alfredo's in Italy
Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone has eaten at Alfredos in Epcot? My two best friends and I are going for spring break (in March) and we just made PS for Alfredos, cause Italian food was about the only thing we could agree on. I'm a true Italian, so I'm wondering if this will keep up with my grandmother's standards. Anyways, just let me know what you guys think- more importantly- tell me about the food!! Thanks everyone!

Re: Alfredo's in Italy
That is actually one of the few if not really the only restaurant that my Dh and i do not like at WDW. The food was not good and the service was even worse. Maybe it was a bad night for them, but that's just my view.

We were just the opposite. We loved the food and the witers at Alfredos, and would go back in a heartbeat. It was exceptional, and what I would say was true Itialian food not italian food americianized.

Re: Alfredo's in Italy
We went there on our honeymoon and were not impressed. Our server didn't even come back to check on us until we were finished. Dh thought the Alfredo pasta was decent, but not the best he's ever had. And my pasta dish could have been found at any local Olive Garden (actually, I think the Olive Garden was just a little bit better). For the prices, I would skip it and try Le Cellier at the Canada Pavillion. I am very pickey and I was able to find several items on their menue that I liked.

Re: Alfredo's in Italy
My pasta was very good, but way overpriced. On the bright side, the waiters were all very handsometo look at. As I said to my mother when we were there,"They sure grow them hunky in Italy, don't they?"

Re: Alfredo's in Italy
My DH, DD and I ate in the World Showcase for the first time this past June. A CM told us that it was just awesome and shouldn't pass it up. For us, we thought that it was better than eating in The Land again. Honestly, we didn't care for it at all and the prices were pretty expensive for what you got to eat. I'd take a pass on this one.
But when you're in the MK, make sure you PS for Liberty Tree Tavern....it's the best character meal!!!!

Re: Alfredo's in Italy
Thanks guys for all your help- now we're thinking about heading some place else! We can't deal with bad service (I work in a restaurant, and I'll have people's heads if I don't get good service)! Plus, I think they'd be annoyed by us cause we're three loud (often times crazy) college students!

Re: Alfredo's in Italy
Hey Natalie! Hold off on cancellling those reservations! My familky (Italian, Italian, Italian!!!) loves that restaurant! I can tell you that the marinara sauce is unbelievably similar to Rao's in New York City, Gerardo's as well! In fact, that sauce is so good that I spent a small fortune on long distance phone calls trying to ge tthe recipe because I knew it was the only sauce that would ever impress my MIL! Here's the deal: If you go and order an "authentic" piece of expensive veal, you may be disappointed! But if you order a bowl of spaghetti marinara, you will be a very, very happy girl! Also, the fettucine alfredo is actually extremely good, also!
Also, can I ask if you have ever eaten at Mama Melrose's at MGM? It is not a really authentic place, either, but it is good sturdy Italian in gigantic portions!

Re: Alfredo's in Italy
I watched a show called Inside Out...used to be on the Disney channel a few years ago. They featured that restaurant and said the people who own it (or manage it??...for some reason, I don't think Disney owns the restaurnats in the countries) are relatives to the creators of the ORIGINAL fetticuni alfredo dish. Apparently, like Lawwin said, it is TRUE italian. So with that being said, we excitedly ate there on one trip and left disappointed...Didn't have enough "zip" to it for us...I guess we like the americanized version of italian cooking...just like most of us perfer tex-mex over tradional mexican food.
By the way, here's the menu, just in case you haven't seen it! Lunch: http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_itl.htm Dinner: http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menu_itd.htm

Re: Alfredo's in Italy
I had always heard how good Alfredo's was, so I booked it as our dinner for our candlelight processional dinner package. Boy was I disappointed! I love fettuchini alfredo, and thought theirs was very bland with little or no taste at all. The tables (especially those for 2) are very close together. I had to slide between two tables to get into the booth and was honestly afraid that I was going to knock something off the table. We were forced to strike up a conversation with the people on either side of us due to the close quarters. Not exactly the way I want to have dinner, so I would not recommend it to anyone.

Re: Alfredo's in Italy
The problem is that most people who say they would only eat their mom or dad italian food are probably eating americanized italian food. Our family was station over in Italy for two years and find that Alfredo's comes the closest to what the northern Italians realy cook and eat. Most of often the people who don't like it, are use to eating southern Italian food. I haven't been in Alfredo in the past 12 months but we always stop there for lunch. The lunch is far better than the dinner. Plus it not as busy. We alway had excellent service there, maybe because we speak to then in our broken italian with a New England accent. Plus we travel all over Italy when we were there so we know most of the towns that the waiters and waitress are from. I do say that it is alittle expensive but still love the place. It better than FRance but equal if not alittle better than Canada.
