Kona Cafe for Dinner?

The dinner menu at Kona Cafe is really appealing to my wife and I, but I can't find any reviews on dinner there (it's all tonga toast this, tonga toast that... ). Disney Rate and Review has 1 dinner review (only a 2 mickey rating), but it wasn't very detailed and it's a few years old.

Anyone have any experience?

Bruce -
Unfortunately, I never made it there for dinner while staying at the Polynesian. I did have the tonga toast though....worth it's weight in gold! To the point, that place was always filled with people, so the food must be good.

Re: Kona Cafe for Dinner?

I think Kona gets bypassed b/c so many go to the Poly to eat at Ohana's. Kona Cafe wasn't very crowded at all when we were there for our Ohana's dinner.

Re: Kona Cafe for Dinner?

I did not eat "dinner" there persay, but did eat lunch on a couple of occasions. I love it there, and the food was great! (They have simply delicious smoothies...) I noticed that the Pan Asian Pasta is on the dinner menu...that's what we had for lunch once, and it was great!! Very tasty, and two of us were able to share it.

Re: Kona Cafe for Dinner?

We ate at Kona last month. It was suprisingly similar to chinese food, but we LOVED it. DW had some sort of coconut chicken that was delicious. I had the noodles, which were decent (but I was hoping for something a little more exoctic).

Overall, I'd give it an A-. Next time, we'd probably try some place else for variety, but we weren't dissappointed with the experience.

Re: Kona Cafe for Dinner?

While staying at the Poly last June, we missed our PS at Chef Mickey's because our 15-month old DD decided to take a very long afternoon nap. With the rain coming down in sheets, we could only get into the Kona Cafe for dinner....and it was AMAZING!!!! Our server was wonderful and made everything absolutely perfect for us. Our 15-month loved her grilled cheese and was entertained by everyone around the entire night. I had pasta and my husband still talks about the porkchops. It's highly recommended!!!!

Re: Kona Cafe for Dinner?

Kona Cafe is GREAT!!! I ate there for lunch, and the smoothies are great because they use real fruit compared to just the mix. However, if it is for dinner I would just go to 'Ohanas.

Re: Kona Cafe for Dinner?

Since we're staying at the Poly in May, we'll have to eat lunch/dinner at Kona. We've never stayed at Poly B4, but we have had b'fast (love the Tonga Toast) and we've had dinner at O'Hana and, of course, loved it. My DD still talks about the solid chocolate life-size Stitch they had at Kona Cafe a couple years ago. (BTW: What exactly IS life-size for Stitch?)
